Very interesting nebbiolo. Garnet color, started with low aroma but opened to a complex nose. Black fruit, floral notes, licorice, plums in liquor and the tipical rustic tone that most Italian wines have. Good tannin on the mouth, very nice acidity. Good permanence in mouth. Drank it for more than 2 hours to enjoy it at its fullest. — 7 years ago
Fascinating side by side with the Pio Cesare ornato 2000. This had an unusual amount of sweet cherry fruit and was a new world bright contrast to the pio cesare. I really enjoyed this. The ornato is supposed to be more new world but it was very old world to me in contrast to the la spinetta barbaresco. — 9 years ago
Great label and really enjoyable Barbaresco made in a very classic style yet fun to drink now. — 10 years ago
Guy recommended this by Braida over the pio cesare. It was very good. — 10 years ago
This started out lean and picked up weight & depth after it sat in the decanter after about 20-30 minutes. As we moved through dinner it started to push into 93.
The tannins were darker, firmer than the 2009 Pio Cesare. Blackberries, slightly sour but dark cherries, not yet ripe blood orange, tar, beautiful, lighter dark spice, sandalwood, dry tobacco, crashed rocks, nice tarriness, pink & red roses, nice acidity with a good, polished, elegant, well structured & balanced finish that lasts 90 seconds and falls evenly on fruit and earth. — a year ago
cesare. Pinot like. Hint of cantaloupe/muscat on foreground, medium body with pepper and earthy finish — 7 years ago
Light golden color. Slightly viscous citrus driven with mineral edged. Very solid food wine. — 7 years ago
cesare. fresh fruit on the nose, ever so slightly fizzy, cranberry, high acids for rich foods, gentle midpalate tannins, cesare da casaletto 18E — 9 years ago

1965. Birth year wine on birthday. Pronounced nose, weak in the middle, tired at the finish. But enough about me, the wine was great. Interesting at first with ripe strawberry, cherry, forest floor, cedar notes, long finish. After opening up bell pepper flavors emerged, which was fine but others may not like. I enjoy these old bottles made by the Mondavi family, this one signed by Cesare. Enriches the experience to know you are drinking an historic, old wine made by an iconic family. — 8 years ago
A perfect follow up to Pio Cesare. It really makes sense tasting them side by side to feel the difference of masculine Barolo and feminine Barbaresco. Luscious black plums, white pepper and roses... — 10 years ago

Beautiful dark berry fruit nose. Palate doesn’t quite carry the same depth or intensity. Hits hard at the front but fades more quickly than expected. Still, nice food pairing wine with the low tannins and medium plus acid. 14.5%. — 6 months ago
