Nose has raspberry jam in a charred barrel, black currant juice, charred red pepper, wet leather, fresh clay pottery and moist, earthy soil.

Palate has ripe black currant, ripe blackberry, huckleberry and dried blackberry, with a medium tannic grip remaining. Likely this bottle could easily see a 15th or 20th b-day under proper storage conditions.

Alas our final bottle, it's been a stellar performer at btwn $15-17 in retail settings, about 6-8 years ago, have not seen this bottling in a while. We used to have some 2003, but that's long gone also.

The nose may read as a bold vintage of Reserva Rioja, but the palate has more in common with the riper, denser reds from California or Washington.
