Really good but so different from the Novarese (I’m not gonna say the new-fangled “Alto Piemonte”) reds I cut my teeth on. Extremely light color, beautiful scents of macerated, barely ripe cherry, gravel, and old mahogany furniture. Fantastic acids make this a great wine to accompany rustic, rich dishes (like the red wine and sausage risotto I cooked tonight). Loads of minerality on the finish. — 6 years ago
Very soft and smooth for a Cannonau. Black cherries, plums, earthy, slight tobacco. Very smooth, lingering finish. — 6 years ago

Easy to drink yet interestingly wardrobe. I would recommend eating this with a bowl of eggs please. — 7 years ago
Lots of cherry. Black pepper and spice and perfume. Good. 22€ a bottle. 2006x — 8 years ago
Pleasant varietal expression with a nice bit of cantaloupe and honey on the tongue. Medium acidity and low alcohol. — 8 years ago
Excellent Vermentino. Dry, crisp with subtle flower notes. Doesn't get any better than this for the price. — 5 years ago
Really liked it. Bought take out from Sociale. — 5 years ago
This is another time-traveler wine. Its ripe, slightly pruny, spicy aromas remind me of various Novarese (now called “Alto Piemonte”) or Veronese Ripassos from the 70s and early 80s. Lots of clingy dark fruit, leather, and other savory notes. Satisfying and completely working class in the best way. — 6 years ago
Beautiful concentrated Amarone, raisins, figs and dates in on palate, long aftertaste. Delicious! — 6 years ago
Resistent cepage. Nose nice and balanced.
Mid palate a bit simple.
Lovely aftertaste — 7 years ago
Oaky, full flavored, very nice! — 8 years ago
@Sociale in Brooklyn. Deep bouquet, opened up as it breathed. Excellent. — 8 years ago
Rustic and zesty. It’s got crunchy wild cherry fruit and loads of wet Novarese gravel, with a little barnyard funk. Lively and crisp in the mouth, with a bit of chalky tannin to give it a little physicality. It was fantastic to wash down pasta bolognese.
UPDATE: On night two, this wine has put on a bit of weight. Upping rating from 8.9 to 9.0. — 6 years ago
Delicious, well balanced, Tuscan bland. Right amount of fruit, earthiness and funk. Really liked this wine! The restaurant, “Enoteca Sociale”. — 6 years ago
Frizzante fun! — 7 years ago
Barboncino. Very dry — 8 years ago
Rustic Nebbiolo (Spanna in the Novarese area). Intense nose has a bit of VA, loads of fresh-turned gravel, a little bit of barnyard, all to go with deep macerated cherry fruit. Intensely flavored, with loads of puckery (but not harsh) cheek-coating tannin. Very rustic and long. — 8 years ago
What to say about this wine. Well it is everything anyone could ever want in a southern Italian red. It's light and fruity and goes perfect with any meal. I only found it at one restaurant in sorrento and it was their house wine. I bought a bottle and am drinking it again now, but nothing is better than having it from a jug poured off the grapes on a warm sorrentine night. If you can get your hands on this wine, do not hesitate, drink it and enjoy it! — 9 years ago
Tom Casagrande
Plummy, earthy nose doesn’t show much. But the palate is expansive and rich, with classic earthy Novarese Nebbiolo flavors. Great with polenta and meat sauce. — 5 years ago
