The nose shows classic BdM aromas of dried cherry, rose petal, steeped black tea, tobacco, and a whisper of balsamic. Yet on the palate its tart acidity overwhelmed, and the nimble structure is more inline with CC than a BdM.

Not bad, but I certainly expected much more.

The aromatic profile is immediately inviting with ripe red cherries, red plum, strawberry, violets, leather, licorice, and hint of tobacco. Medium to full body. The palate is darker and more brooding than the nose suggests, but acidity provides a refreshing backbone. Tannins are fine-grained but need time to integrate.

Vermiglio is slotted between the entry level rosso and the BdM. 4000 bottles produced for 2019. — 2 years ago

This really hit the spot for me. Restrained and elegant like the Gaja, but more depth. Lovely minty, medicinal herb note on the end. Some orange peel? Super fresh. Jumped to the top of my favorite Brunello list with Conti Costanti and Gaja. — 9 years ago
