Big, masculine Barolo. Drinking well but more nuance will come with age. Literally garage wine. From vines in Bussia to the garage in Monforte. — 3 years ago
Works best with heavy bolognese and trofie. Sour cherry and mineral on the palate. — 5 years ago
Takes 2 hours to open up but then cherry and soft tannins. — 6 years ago

I sold Barolos and Barbarescos from this winery with the first importer I worked for back in the early 80s. It’s been in the decanter about an hour, and though the lightish color shows maturity, some fruit is emerging g to join with the intense mahogany furniture/old library scents. Incense too, along with faded rose petals. Very classic. In the mouth, it’s powerful and somewhat austere. Not a fruity wine. Still a fair amount of tannin present. The austerity and power will pair nicely with the braised oxtails (coda alla vaccinara) that are almost ready. — 6 months ago
Magnum. Single vineyard from the Bussia Cru of Monforte d’Alba.
This is so much different than the Brandini single vineyard from La Morra. Much more powerful with still firm tannic structure. Shows more dark fruits, with fig jam, leather, cedar and licorice.

Little past prime. Raisin ish. Still enjoyed — 5 years ago
Nose is aromatic and ripe with a hint of stewed tomato to start off. Mid season cherry and really bright. Wish that overripe tomato was not there. It slowly blows off but on PNP it is prominent. Cherry flower. Tar. Spice. Nice nose. Not great. Palate is ripe and juicy but slightly broad with good balance, purity and freshness. Big tannins that I associate with Bussia. Good power and depth. No finesse. Solid not special. Maybe air helps?
UPDATE/ Air did help.this. 9.0 to 9.3. More silkiness and clearly defined fruit. — 5 years ago

Deep red, slightly coppery color under light, it’s young but after some decanting time it starts to open up. Nose is still restrained long after opening, but starting to show some fruit and herbaceous funk as it releases its hold. Raspberries, sherry, black cherry and wet mossy forest floor on the nose so far. Tannins are pretty prominent, dry and chalky, with a full body and long lingering finish where the jammy raspberries shine more as the song ends, even becomes a little ripe tomato as the song fades. Super young, but a great pairing for the pork belly and risotto we had for Valentine’s Day dinner and it shows a lot of promise. — 10 months ago
Drinking the 2007 in 2022. Wow, wonderful wine. Deep plum color. Big nose rich with leather and oak. Smooth as velvet on the pallet. Wonderfully rich with hints of earth and plum. Loved it!!! — 3 years ago
Very good. Smooth taste, no bitter aftertaste. — 4 years ago
My fondness for Silla Sebaste grows with each glass. This is my first Bussia from this producer and it’s approachable on opening and opens up even more over several hours. Pronounced floral and cherry nose. Mouth watering cherry and other dark fruits, spices, and add a little smoke and leather from front to mid palate. The moderate lingering tannins start to take over late palate and dry the mouth through the finish. Wonderful experience with a lot going on. — 5 years ago
