Brett and delicious — makes you want more with each sip — 6 years ago
Drinking really well at this age. Tannins still pretty upfront and powerful on day 1 along with lots of tart cherry, some brett funk, and earthiness. Great acidic backbone. Was better on day 2! Seemed a touch softer and more integrated with an amazing mouthfeel. Nose was all cherry cola with some root beer, menthol and medicinal notes. So good. Next time I’d just open the bottle and not drink it until the next day — 7 years ago
Does VERY well a decant, takes the brett( which actually like) out & smoothes the edges a bit. Dark dark black fruits, that volcanic minerality all through. Mild to mod tannins. Can match any food, just about- this time chicken w saffron, apricots; roasted brussel sprouts, & corn pudding w roasted garlic & sage — 8 years ago

Had this on Sunday with Roast Pork which was a great match. 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% other varieties. Plum, raspberry and garrigue. Prior notes indicated notes of Brett. This bottle might have a small influence but a long way off bandaid and down the sink. I think I was influenced by my fellow judges at the Toowoomba Wine Show judges dinner last year - some of whom delight in picking the smallest shred of Brett and declare the wine blacklisted. I would hate to be a Somm serving these chaps. — 4 years ago
Very youthful. A touch of Brett. Awesome cedar and tobacco nose with tons of plum fruit, slightly obscured by some horse and band aid. This was about the best showing you could expect from a slightly imperfect bottle. — 7 years ago
Getting less brett on these 15 bottles of this cuvée. Did they add more sulfur for this vintage? Surprised this cuvée tastes good in this vintage with the heat of 2015 and the style of the wine. Maybe it has the grapes that normally go into the 3.14 cuvée. — 8 years ago

Shame the Brett barnyard doesn’t integrate better with the lovely berry-cherry undertones swirling about...three days in, funkadelic subsided into pleasant, easy drinking juice. — 4 years ago
Caught this in a great spot. Intact and developed fruit, complex and harmonious aged Bandol notes. The brett is quite integrated and noticeable in the slight tight and metallic finish. Soaked black cherries, stewed black plums, leather, animal hide, dried herbs, woodsmoke, cinnamon, cloves, pepper, — 5 years ago
Always been a go-to producer for me in terms of price, drinkability, and sense of place. This had all the MSD character I look for in village wines with generous fruit and weight to make it a no fuss experience. Some reduction and brett dominated but blew off quickly letting its leathery and brambly, sous bois fruity character shine through. One foot in rustic, one foot in conventional, this had a well rounded mix of what I like when I reach for this village. — 6 years ago
Needs time to open but another fantastic foillard. Darker fruit and more structured than the other foillard bottlings. A hint of brett that largely blows off in the decanter. Great texture — 8 years ago

Now I see how this wine can be so divisive. LOTS of brett at first, more band-aid than barnyard. Takes a while to get past it and then lots of exotic spices show up. But after 40 minutes in the glass still nothing primary. It’s got the funk I can appreciate in some good left bank Bordeaux but also feels somewhat single-threaded. — 4 years ago
