We tried the 2017 last weekend. It was really good. I said, it needed a couple years in bottle. After having the 2015 tonight, I would say it’s better but, like this 15 it still needs a couple more years to flush out to its best form.
I like this rising Burgundian producer & new to me. For $39, it overachieves & drinks better than many more expensive CA Chardonnays. As I mentioned in my 2017 post, this producer uses a shade more new wood than is typical for White Burgundy...it has a little backbone.
The nose reveals; sour lemons, green apple with skin, lime zest to candy, overripe pineapple, under ripe, green melon, white peach, peach, apricot, kiwi, guava, cream, brown butter, white spice, limestone, chalky grains in powder, caramel notes, butterscotch candy, dry herbs, honey/honeycomb quality, grey volcanics, fruit blooms, jasmine, yellow lilies & spring flowers.
The body is; full, round, waxy, slightly gluey with nice viscosity. This also drinks like a nice Meursault. Sour lemons, green apple with extra skin, lime zest to candy, overripe pineapple, under ripe, green melon, white peach, peach, apricot, kiwi, guava, cream, brown butter, white spice, limestone, chalky grains in powder, wet some, flintiness, slightly, metallic minerals, caramel notes, butterscotch candy, dry herbs, honey/honeycomb quality, grey volcanics, fruit blooms, jasmine, yellow lilies & spring flowers. The acidity round, phat and well executed. The finish is; well balanced, nicely knitted, lush, rich, polished and lingers on for minutes ending in grippy chalkiness & minerals.
Needs to be decanted & enjoyed around 60 degrees.

@Shay A Maybe, your next producer introduction? Have to work that out. — 5 years ago
I bought 7 wines at a good bottle shop in Barcelona. The notes on this one was put through the washing and destroyed. These notes will be from memory. A strong barnyard note but not a deal breaker. Light to medium weight palate - very savoury. Low acid. “Semi-natural “ if you get my drift. — 3 years ago
Its the Breaker Vineyard, JS 95
Love the description from the winery so I had to try one ☝️
I think I might get a couple more to age for a few years.
Winemaker's Notes: " The Breaker Vineyard is where we live. Planted in 1972 on its own roots, it occupies a windswept rocky hill on the northern tip of the Eola-Amity Hills. The original cuttings came from Dick Erath and were farmed by Rich Zielinski for four decades. To the north the soils are predominantly Nekia, moderately deep silty clay soils on top of basalt bedrock. The southern portion is predominantly Gelderman soil series which has much thinner topsoils with rocks and cobbles strewn throughout the rows. This endangered beast will be one of only two vintages (2018 & 2019) to come off this old vineyard before we begin replanting. This vintage is very limited and entirely unique. Built to go the distance, we know our children will be enjoying these wines for many years to come. It's just that special. Winemaking Yielding just over one ton per acre, this old vineyard was harvested on the 28th of September. One portion was destemmed into a small, open- top fermenter. The second portion was placed 100% whole bunch in a 500-liter amphora and left untouched for 19 days. The last portion was left 100% whole bunch and foot crushed only. All fermented with native yeast. This wine is a dramatic landscape of rich blue fruits, tense acidity buoyed by sweet tannins, and mouth filling richness. Bottled unfined and unfiltered." — 5 years ago
Absolutely delicious and adding gracefully. 2012 consumed in March 2018. Plenty of life still left in this. Great minerality and cherry funk. Love it! — 7 years ago
See previous notes from October 2017 and August 2018. Red fruited with Cherry, Raspberry and Strawberry notes - very mineral. On the palate just medium weight, with a note of tomato sauce, very savoury with some tannic grip. A touch of Brettanomyces (not unusual in a Sicilian red) but not a deal breaker. The French Oak barrel influence is totally integrated. Was a good match with Pasta. Would buy Faro again although I think I preferred this wine in its youth. Was a standout on our Sicilian trip several years ago. — 4 years ago
Very Dusty on the nose - so dusty I thought it might be corked - TCA but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Unmistakabley Bordeaux. Some barnyard reduction which blew off. Very harmonious and balanced on the palate. No berry fruit - more cedar chest of drawers. After 2 hours strong aromas of Capsicum (red peppers). I am a big fan of Chateau Palmer. At a 2009 International Cabernet tasting I attended, the Palmer was a standout. In a reclassification it should be at least a 2nd Growth. For this wine no further cellaring required. — 6 years ago

Very oaky. Not a deal breaker. But you gotta be into it. — 2 years ago
