30 min, concentrated. Oak and complexity. No. Actual concentration came 90 min. Feel powerful. Fruity blue and black berry. 120 min texture is also getting better.
Mid +. Elegant and powerful one
It takes time, at least one hour, two or more to decant it even in 2006 @3100, xiaduo - , 210928-211015 — 4 years ago
WS rated this 91 - criminal!
We think this rocks, and it’s structured for long-term cellaring. Beautiful whiff of tobacco, meat, spice-box and oak on the nose. Deftly balanced palate displays black briar fruits and polished tannins. Prominent minerality is balanced by just the right amount of acid. Yummy now, but is destined to further improve. — 6 years ago
Visiting again this splendid Paulliac from the 2011 vintage. 2011 vintage was labeled as mediocre in Bordeaux and this lovely wine showed that it is actually a classic vintage with some great wines, so trust the chateau not only the vintage. The nose is tempting with notes if coffee, earth, oak, cassis, black fruits and hints of chocolate, the body is full with round tannins, acidity is splendid and finish is long. My score 92, drink to 2026, perhaps longer — 6 years ago
2003, subdued red fruits, smoke, crushed black berry and violets, nutmeg and anise. Amazing single vintage — 8 years ago
Il Bruciato means "the burnt one" in English, and she shows black cherry cola, charcoal, and chalk out of the bottle with an assertive attack and med/med+ body; after 30 minutes, she settles down a bit, gets smoother, showing off a rounder red fruit profile along with the black. Despite the toasted oak on the nose, the roasted flavor never integrated into the palate, so the wine never really crosses into complex territory, but has lovely balance. Paired exceptionally well with penne bolognese. — 10 years ago
Such a nice Napa cab. with lots of ripe black fruit, spicy and well structured, just to amaze anybody... — 11 years ago
Deep ruby color. Medium + aromas of dark cherries, vanilla, mint, sage, leather, and eucalyptus. Medium acidity, medium + tannins. Complex flavors of toasted oak, vanilla, cassis, and ripe black cherries. Young tannins, but nicely balanced with potential to age gracefully. A long finish. — 12 years ago
The bottle of 2014 Pontet-Canet showed better than the previous one at the 10-Year-On tasting in London. This offers much more restraint on the nose. It's quite precise, with greater mineralité seeping through the black cherry and cassis fruit. The palate has a sorbet-fresh entry, fine tannins and a silky sheen. The oak is fully subsumed after a decade, plus there is a little more depth on the finish compared to previous showings. This is a fine example of the vintage, and bottles should drink well over the next 12 to 15 years. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the Pontet-Canet dinner in Washington DC. Black cherry, vanilla, raspberry preserves, plum, currant and oak. Full-bodied and moderate tannins. — 4 years ago
Owes name to man of the cloth born in 1264, Bertrand de Goth, Bishop of Comminges, in the Pyrenees, later became Archbishop of Bordeaux in 1299. Blend, 57% Merlot, 38% Cab Sauv & 5% Petit Verdot & Cab Franc, aged in new French oak for 18 months. Pronounced youthful black fruit aromas with earthy baking spices. Blackberry & plum palate flavors with cedar & spice integrated with firm tannins, long ending, earthy oak with a mineral tang. Needs more bottle age! Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago
Found another ‘15, a blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah & Grenache and aged for 10 months on French oak (40% new). Deep Ruby with aromas of black fruits, cedar and sweet spice. On the palate, ripe plums, jammy blueberries and sweet cherry with slight oak and vanilla spice, pours like syrup. Lingering finish, good length allowing the soft tannins to open in your mouth. Good structure, great mouthfeel, ending with pure fruit and dash of minerality, drinks well now. Produced with 12 different labels. Wow! — 6 years ago
I’ve got to be honest...I don’t think I’ve ever had a BV wine before. Being that their history in Napa runs quite deep, I figured it was time to try a bottle, and this was reasonably priced at the restaurant.
Extremely dark in the glass. Nose was spice, dark chocolate shavings and cassis dominant. Quite smooth (which I find with most ‘14s) from the front palate all the way through the finish...blackberries, black cherry, just a touch of blueberries in the mid-palate that accentuates the oak. Finish has a nutmeg and bay leaf type note. Fairly rich style cab-blend that went well with my hangar steak. — 8 years ago

A beautiful left bank Bordeaux. Quite classic on the palate. Dry with subtle oak note, cinnamon, clove, slightly earthy, mostly with blackberry, black cherry, black currant, pencil shave. Not too many herbal notes on the nose. Med to med plus acidity and med plus tannin. Quite smooth. — 8 years ago
It's time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time, a wonderful Chilean Cabernet.
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather, bell pepper, sage, peppermint, eucalyptus and smoke.
Full bodied with medium acidity and beautiful long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cherries, figs, cloves, herbs, earth, cola, vanilla, oak, spices, light vegetables, coffee, chocolates, bell pepper, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.
An elegant, Single Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, with lots of complexity and fitness, but not fully balanced yet.
Still young now, but very enjoyable by itself, and better with BBQ Meats. I paired it with a cheese platter, crackers and nice company.
Grapes are grown at the foot hills of the Andes Mountains, on stony soils. 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc.

Black cherry & American oak. Would be great with a steak — 10 years ago
I get cumin on the nose, but maybe that's the roast in cooking in the kitchen coming in to play. Warm integrated tannins with strong but not over powering oak. Wonderful black fruit on the round finish. — 12 years ago
Oak, deep, with dignity. Black currant. Completely different from 2011 tasted in 2016. Enough decanting is also one of the reasons. 2017 @6930, Academy D, 240323 — 2 years ago
It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Deep purple in color, almost inky, with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, cooked plums, sweet cherries, cedar, light vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, coffee, light cocoa powder and peppercorn.
Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, coffee, peppercorn and tobacco.
Tangy finish with round tannins and raspberries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Tangy and interesting.
Spicy, rich and extracted, yet elegant. Nicely balanced with a nice mouth feel.
I had the 2018 not too long ago, and it is very consistent.
Very young, but already drinking nicely, after a couple of hours of airtime. A good quality wine that will age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
A good sipping wine that doesn't necessarily need food, but will be great with a big piece of steak as well.
A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec, 10% Petit Verdot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Aged in mostly French oak barrels for 18 months.
14.2% alcohol by volume.

A beautiful color of ruby with a wide brick rim.
Light and gentle nose of blueberries, black cherries, black currants, light oak, Indian spices, cinnamon, light licorice, coffee, light vinaigrette, curry and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, red currants, light cedar, vegetables, coffee, tobacco leaf, herbs, black tea, peppercorn, vinaigrette and earth.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 14 year old is drinking very nicely now, although not from the best vintage.
Needs 2 hours to open up properly and show the beautiful nose, but pretty good right out of the bottle too.
This Gran Reserva is always enjoyable. A nice wine to have by itself or with food, and especially great with fatty cheeses.

Okay my friends. I have finally released my own wine! This rating is for Dr Todd Vineyards cabernet sauvignon from Herron Family Wines. I had to put Papillon in the pic to get this spot. Ive been working on this since 2014!!!!! It is finally ready. Of coarse it is opaque in color. The legs are thick and slow to fall. The bouquet is my favorite blackberry pie fresh out of the oven with a hint of black licorice. The initial palate is exploding with dark fruit: blackberry, black current, dark cherries. The mid palate is exactly what I hoped for, chocolate and spice with a splash of oak! The finish is very long with minimal tannins and moderate dryness. I am very proud if this wine. I want to thank my growers in NAPA. I blended two vines of 100% cabernet , one from Oakville and one from the Silverado trail area near lake Hennessey. We aged it three years in American Oak. I am so proud of my team!!!!! Thank you my Herron Family Wine Crew! This is an awesome cabernet sauvignon. Next is a pinot noir... stay tuned... — 6 years ago

Great Paso Robles blend. Great nose showing currants, cigar box, star anise and oak. Wonderful fruit forward flavors of dark cherry, black currant, licorice and a very subtle hint of earthiness. The tannins are extremely well integrated and lush. This is a very nicely integrated wine with lots of aging potential. This is the iconic PR wine and does not disappoint. Cheers! — 9 years ago
This is astonishing. Beautiful and powerful with a smoky, oaky, black-fruity, spicy nose that won't quit. Palate is rich with loads of fruit, sweet vanilla oak, and a port-like quality. This wine has monastrell's blueberry, black fruit, iron tincture, and beef blood signature. Skip the steak and pair this with savory for foods for a fantastic contrast. Finish is long and playfully tasty. — 11 years ago
Superbly blended. Deep, mellow with a hint of oak. The flavor profile from the grapes are well balanced so that all the flavors compliment each other equally. Most important for me.....the tannins are not overpowering. My favorite cab so far. — 13 years ago

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim and medium plus intensity.
Pretty nose with red and black fruits, wood, earth, tobacco, black coffee and spices.
Dry on the palate with raspberries, cherries, plums, light oak, spices, chocolates, licorice, peppercorn, forest floor, earth, black tea, vegetables and herbs.
Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 16 year old from Margaux, is drinking very nicely now. Showing nice balance and elegance. Soft and very dry.
Good right out of the bottle, and gets much earthier as it opens up, with lots of earth and forest floor notes. Really enjoyed the nose.
The 2008 vintage was not a good one, and although it's still very tasty, I don't see it getting any better from this point.
I've had a few vintages of this Second Growth Bordeaux, and I found it to be all over the place. The 2016 was my favorite so far.
