Interesting red blend that features the Baga (85%) grape. Blended with Touriga National (15%). Very dark color but lighter in body than I would have expected. Bright and jammy red fruit aromas and flavors with hints of prunes and dark chocolate. Solid acidity and very long finish. Moderate finish and tannins. In a very good place right now. Thanks for sharing and insisting we open this one, Ron B! — 3 years ago

2016 Baga from Luis Gomes is more mineral than fruit at first, then the fruit opens up in the glass. Great with food, especially hearty seafood and lighter meats and chicken. — 5 years ago
Wow so good! Natural sparkling rosé with lotttsss of sediment. Juicy orange character makes this very drinkable. I love how inventive Portuguese wines are lately. — 2 years ago
Medium to light bodied. Nice smoky flavor — 2 years ago
Dirty, dusty red fruit - red currant, raspberry, rose hip, but also a whiff of blood orange with a mineral core underneath, fresh & slightly funky.
Bone dry on the palate, with persistent bubbles, juicy fruit and a slight touch of tannins. The irony, bloody character of Baga shines through.
Unorthodox, delicious stuff. Brilliant with food. — 3 years ago

Smooth on the nose and taste. Really strong cherry notes with chocolate hints. Awesome wine. Year 2020. strong red color — 2 years ago
Nose of Blackberry and lavender with some gravel/stone and maybe some dried beef. Medium to strong tannins, bright acidity, mid to low alcohol, deep and textured flavors on the palate similar to nose, maybe also some dried currant or plum. Fruit and herbal/stone/savory balance quite well, and the lower alcohol than most structured firm reds increases its drinkability. — 2 years ago
Rich cherry and black currant nose. Color is purple with a watery thin edge. In the mouth it is not as sweet as the nose is. There is a rather fresh acidity bringing balance. It will be accompanied by the veal cheeks and mash. Looking forward to that.
As the bottle was opened anyhow to use a glass in the stew we already started tasting 😉. — 3 years ago

wines i didn't pick but are supposedly choosed according to my taste.
i let my son cover them in tinfoil then i open and try to guess.
this one is a north Portuguese white blend made from three indigenous varieties :
bical, cercial and sercialinho
12.5% abv
medium + to full body with mostly citrus variety and hinted stone fruit.
it's power and lack of tropics made me guess it's 🇫🇷 sauvignon blanc. but its so sharp i was thinking chablis is another option.
it's so balanced i thought maybe some oak sorted it all out.
i was confused but impressed.
impressive punch all in all.
paired well with medicore Asian take away of sushi, pad thai and plain white rice.

No doubt about its excellence. Old-school aromas, from long-aging in old wood and bottle. Not as ethereal as the best Brunellos and more earthly, but just as fine. — 5 years ago

Dark rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, top soil and crushed flowers. Very light, balanced, complex, with polished tannins. This is great stuff. Low in alcohol too. Highly recommended. — 2 years ago
