Soft brown in color. Toasted notes with dried fruit, soft plum, tar and some high toned acidity. A slightly austere palate but a haunting fragrant quality. Very pretty. You need to lean in a bit to see the beauty — a year ago

Old Nebbiolo nose with sour cherry on palate for first two hours, then rose and red fruit for next hour, then as it was just hitting its stride it was gone - we finished it. Next time need to be more patient, if I’m lucky enough for a next time. Purchased from Walker Wines who has great old Nebbiolo offerings. — 6 years ago
Hög budgetkvalitet på denna (109kr - man får MYCKET bang for the buck!). Len som barnrumpa, generös smak. Systemet — 7 years ago
Nice smell of plums and dark fruit. Definitely a good wine. By itself, the acid and sourness overpowers the fruit, but when paired with pizza, the sourness softens and the fruit emerges ... red cherries, maybe black currant. Really nice. — 8 years ago
The best Barolo I’ve been able to get at Costco. Higher price than their usual but based on the quality it’s a great value. Traditional style - young with lots of years to go. Nose with dark rose and earth. Right with tan is on opening h but opened some within a couple hours. Palate is earth forward with tobacco undergrowth mineral balanced with blackbery dark cherry. Long mouth tingling finish. — a year ago
The origins of the Damilano family dates back to over a century ago, when Guiseppe Borgogno, the great-grandfather of the current owners, started to grow and make wine from his own grapes. Medium Ruby with aromas of fresh berry fruits and generous spice. On the palate this medium body wine shows flavors of juicy cherry and blackberry with notes of citrus and vanilla spice. Light tannin structure, lively acidity, medium ending with fruit finish. Nice value. Drink now, consistent, no aging benefit. — 2 years ago

This was served to me single-blind, after the 2016 Cascina Fontana Barolo del Comune di Castiglione Falletto. I knew it was Barolo, but from where? It seemed like a broader shouldered wine that I might associate from the Comune di Barolo, but I wasn’t certain. The wine pours a deep, garnet color with a near opaque core. Medium viscosity, with no staining of the tears. On the nose, developing and much darker fruited than the Cascina Fontana with notes of dark cherry and some blackberry notes too. There was some tobacco, tar, red roses, minerals and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and delicious. Again, there is real quality here and a very lovely texture. And there it is: Borgogno’s Riserva Cannubi, 2011! I am not surprised this is Cannubi, with there being no shortage of quality fruit and all. This was really fun to enjoy. Drink now with some patience or through 2041. — 2 years ago

Love the Piedmonts. A little chalky at first but opened up to apricots and floral. But stayed mineral at the finish — 8 years ago
