Dark tawny with some purple in the center. Opaque but bright. Killer nose. Notes of rich black cherries, plums, cracked walnuts, earth and a little eucalyptus. Medicinal. Ripe. In the mouth it’s velvet glove with what it touches and lush. Minute long finish. This is the whole package. — 6 years ago
Incredible. Jaboulet family apparently inconsistent in final years of ownership, but this one had everything. So dense still, with lots of kalamata olive, olive brine, cherry, blackberry, black pepper, leather, cured meat, earth. Savory, sweet, powerful, elegant, hit every end of the taste spectrum. Super long. In magnum — 7 years ago
Dark plum, earth, hint of smoke and a bit of vanilla. — 9 years ago
Very old world style Pinot. Lots of fruit and earth. Extremely complex yet soft and easy to drink. — 10 years ago
Always enjoy having this wine. It has never ceased to impress. Todays wine was the 2018 Marchesi Antinori Tignanello. This is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.
The nose has notes of black cherry, plum, blackberry, licorice, herbs, violets, leather and brick dust.
On the palate gave me cherry, plum, blackberry, red currant, hint of vanilla, spices, black pepper, cedar and earth.
This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel on entry, medium to medium + acidity and medium + fine elegant grippy tannins that has a long red and blie fruit dusty finish. Hope your week has started on a good note and the week ahead is smooth as this Tignanello. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 3 years ago
V15. Nice wine. Fusel oil, and soft citrus nose. Pear, with hints of lemon grass and lime fruit. Bone dry, crisp mineral finish. Well balanced. — 6 years ago
What a treat. From the company to the antics of the cork removal, all was fantastic. Not surprised with some immediate mustiness on the nose, giving way to a rich but smooth aged blue cheese, mushrooms, soy sauce, earth, and just a faint hint of dried red fruit. Over the next 20 minutes the glass development was out of control, changing with each and every whiff and sip. Earthy umami, oxidative, and and slightly stewed reds to begin quickly opened to nice dried strawberries on the palate and nose, and advancing to moderately subdued ripened strawberries and cranberries- after 61 years and still kickin with fruit! Amazing. Then after about 20 minutes of rapid metamorphosis, it gave in and decided to fade to a very pleasant sipper...awesome. — 8 years ago
Delicious. Seasonal. — 10 years ago
A Margaret River-producer from the beginning, whose inception was coached by Mondavi; deep purple; nose of dark mulberry, black currant, ripe cherries, black pepper, anise and nutmeg; showing great on the palate, forceful yet elegant, with tannins, ripe fruit, acid levels and alcohol in good harmony, and a long dry finish. Promising future. — 3 years ago
1.5 hour decant(surprisingly just a little cloudy sediment). A prodigious medium dark garnet color with little signs of aging. On the nose: funky stewed meats, blackberry, smoke, plum, minty pepper, creme de cassis. Taste: KABOOM! Rich, silky, full body wine with blackberry, earth, cedar, wet gravel, menthol and a cassis pencil lead long finish with some ashy tannins. In its prime drinking window and this 13.8% alc wine should rock another 10 years. Cheers! — 4 years ago
A very enjoyable, and very complex, 21 year old red blend from Pessac Léognan, Bordeaux.
Showing red and black fruits with earth, chocolates, tobacco, dark peppercorn, dark coffee, forest floor, green vegetables, graphites, vinaigrette and spices.
Needs 3 hours to open up properly and show the complexity.
Peaking now, and will be good in the next few years. What a treat. This is so delicious.
Wine Advocate 93 points.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
13% alcohol by volume.

Jammy, black fruit, vanilla, earth, with a hint of tobacco and oak. Silky smooth with nice depth and character. Worth every penny yum!!! 😀 — 8 years ago
Loads and loads of Indian spice, liquid smoke and earth on the nose. Cinnamon and dark liquor cherry and pipe tobacco coat the tongue. Tannins and supple but ever present and the finish is long with notes of menthol and truffle. — 8 years ago
Lots of acidic fruit, earth, and moss. Earthy. Delicious. — 9 years ago

Pine nettle, Black plum reduction, cassis, blackberry tart, graphite, rye toast, caraway, dried roses, pecan and earth. Resilient and long, deep throaty echoes of red and black currents on campfire ash, cassis, oak bark, black olive and dried black currant for ever, plus a scribble of pencil.
