Pre-Larkmead bottling. Didn’t have the telltale Cab nose of the Arrowood or Forman, and not sure I would have pegged it as Cabernet if tasted blind. That said, this was a beautiful wine. Soft fruit, great balance, and in a word, elegant. Nice surprise. And no, @Bill Bender that is not The Skipper on the label. — 5 years ago
Big and chewy. Great with fatty meat. Minerals and big tannins. Fruity and deep. Too bad they don't make this anymore. Prob 5 more years in this wine if I was more patient. Blackberry. Blueberry. Wet stone. Licorice. Choc covered cherry. A great wine from a great vintage. — 7 years ago

Fabulous. If you’re still drinking Napa cab you’re missing out on glorious sonoma cab particularly from moon mtn. Richard arrowood is a master and damn I wish I had bought more of this wine. Drinking so good now it has another 5-10 years easy. — 4 years ago
Nice Bordeaux blend. More earth qualities than fruit. Smooth silky mouthfeels. Nicely layered and slight complexity for the price point — 5 years ago
Just finished a Catena wine dinner and decided to pull this from the cellar to see how it compared. Not surprisingly, this is a totally different creature as compared to the younger Argentinian malbecs we just had, but this is very, very good. The nose strikes me more like a younger cabernet, not a 20-year-old malbec. Nice fruit up front with some leather and sour cherry notes on the edge. The tannins have fallen away considerably, but there's still enough of an acidic backbone to keep the wine alive through the mid-palate. The finish thins out a bit but has some nice layers of flavor that evolve throughout. SO impressed given the age of this wine (check out the integrity of that cork!), which proves again what a fantastic job Dick Arrowood did at his namesake winery in Sonoma. — 7 years ago
Surprisingly sweet/tart. Rich & delightful — 8 years ago
2001: Not many of these bottles in circulation. Deep golden color. Poured out like oil in the glass. No way to state the grams per liter of sugar, but as rich as Philippe Foreau's Goutte d'Or Vouvray. Long fish. The word around the table was that it was picked at 42° brix. Consult with your doctor before use. — 8 years ago
One of the few remaining btls from my original 20K btl cellar in the golden years of the mid 2000’s when dining with Rudy, Big Boy, Kapon and the like was my past time. Boy was that fleeting! This was out of a split and it lived up to Robert P’s enthusiasm. Gorgeous. Great acidity and went perfect with Drew’s apple cinnamon bun decadent dessert. Isn’t it funny it says WHITE Riesling?!?! — 5 years ago
Finally got a Coravin and raided my father-in law’s cellar. We didn’t think this guy would make it to 2018 but we were quite mistaken. Terrific Merlot with hints of lavender, chocolate, and leather. — 6 years ago
What a pleasant surprise, for a 19 year old Sonoma Merlot to have anything left to offer. Thanks to careful cellaring done by my brother David Nelson, this bottle still had some dark fruit and woody notes, along with a nice acid structure. I don't drink much wine of this age, but this was a pleasant quaff with a slow cooked beef roast. — 7 years ago
Smells just like it looks in the bottle... strawberry fruit punch with a slight hint of vanilla. Smooth on the palette. Easy spring drinker. — 7 years ago
