Drinks a bit like a Chardonnay, actually. Medium low acid, peach, lemon zest, apple. — 8 years ago
Fennel, black currant, black olives, and black pepper. This is a big wine. — 8 years ago
Quality Blau with a bit of age seems a life hack for a northern Rhone jones. — 8 years ago
My first thought when I pulled this 11 year old Sauv Blanc out of the locker was that I was probably five to seven years too late. Boy, was I wrong. Instead of golden, it was still light to medium straw color. Nose and palate were a bit subtle with lemon and peach, but still good acidity and minerality. A mouth watering glass of wine. I'd look for more, but with about 17 cases produced that may be a tough task. Sadly, the 60+ year old Sauv Blanc vines were only producing about 30-50 gallons of juice per year and have since been pulled. — 9 years ago

A masterpiece. So, so good. — 7 years ago
Curvy rose! Plump cherry and blood orange. Bright and fresh. 70+ year old Zinfandel vines from light sands in Lodi. A nice wink to Cerasuolo! — 7 years ago
Gotta love Mountain fruit!! Deep berry with a rich luscious finish. — 8 years ago
Both really bright and really deep. Black currant, black raspberry followed by a hit of red currant and red raspberry. About an hour of decant until it was really hitting its stride. — 8 years ago
2016 vintage. Very strawberries and cream on the palate. Little bit of chalkiness, peach yogurt, rose water, white raspberry. Delivers on the quality and definitely well-made, just personally wish it was a little less creamy. Did not notice the overt creaminess when I tried it before. — 8 years ago
This is Maison Louis Jadot's first wine project outside of Burgundy, France, since 1859. The 2013 is their debut release from the Résonance Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton wine region, and does not disappoint. Vivid Ruby with a nose of spice accented red fruits. On the palate raspberry and cherry flavors, hints of cinnamon and earthy notes. Tannins are well structured on a long finish ending with some tangy mineral notes. Aging will benefit. A nice light bodied, easy drinking red blend, low acidity, peppery at first with a long finish of blackberry jam. — 9 years ago
Abe’s wines are often hit or miss for me. This one was absolutely, 100% a hit. Singing. — 7 years ago
The 2015, the other half of the night's comparison. Less subtle, more floral. Jasmine, rose petal, honey. All powerful, but all a bit separate and distinct. I think this could lie down for a good while. Will be pleased to try another bottle in a few years. — 8 years ago
A group of guys decided to meet up at our Wine Storage facility and bust out some unique bottles! Scores and notes to follow!
The best of the 3 Petite Sirahs opened tonight. The fruit on this '09 was absurd. This is a Shafer project, and when their Relentless dwindled in Petite sirah make up, it became this. This is a big medley of blue and black fruits, licorice, sweet tarts and vanilla. Best petite sirah to date easily. Thanks Bill! — 8 years ago

Ripe. Full tannin. A very serious blaufränkisch. Better on day two, needs more time frankly. — 9 years ago
Oh yes I did. If the somms of Texas are going to grab pretty much every bottle not earmarked for NYC and CA, then I'm drinking this one! Grown on limestone, yes, this is a very different idea of what Gruner can do. Embrace it. There are grapes, and there is the soil/dirt/rocks/minerals they are planted in. — 9 years ago

Nimble, funky jaminess - the opposite of what you’d expect of a Cali Zin with almost 14% abv, in the best possible way. Very much in harmony and for my money, Scholium at its accessible best. — 7 years ago
