Blew me away, perfectly balanced with notes of dark fruit, underlying tones of some floral notes. — 6 months ago
Great Riesling fe a single vineyard in FLX. Lots of mineral / limestone. Dry yet floral. — 7 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best on Day 2. The 2019 pours a pale garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherries, red roses, tangerine, pomegranate, talcum powder, dried sage, truffle, and dried stony earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory. A lovely expression of 2019 Barbaresco. Drink now with patience and through 2049. — 9 months ago
This wine was the perfect accompaniment for tonight’s dinner; steak au poivre. I’m no sommelier but I picked up some notes of blackberry and black cherry with hints of chocolate and peppery spice. Once again, not a sommelier. Wine- 9/10 Steak- 10/10 The Fugitive- Harrison Ford/10 — 2 years ago
Really god stuff, just a little off our typical path of Cabs, but the Blend is excellent.
Next time we see this, we’re buying it all! — 4 years ago

Double decanted two nights before service. The 2013 Insignia pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing but still quite youthful with notes of tart and ripe dark fruit: dense brambles, purple flowers, tobacco, vanilla and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. At 11 years of age, this remains tightly coiled and needs more time to open up and tell more of its story. All that being said, this is very good now…but to my palate, better after 2027 and through 2043. — 6 months ago
Medium bodied, more old school- cherry, blackberry and spice. Yes there is some oak, maybe a bit more than I’d like, but it’s not overpowering. Though I do think it detracts from the finish. Anyway, well done and enjoyable. — 7 months ago
An amazing Sauvignon Blanc with a great potential to age, enticing citrus notes with some powerful yet not overwhelming tropical fruit flavors. Great wood notes make this one very distinctive and expressive white from Sonoma. A bit hazy with some sediments which fall almost into a natural category of wines. However; it’s meant to improve as it ages. A bit not so common for a white from this region. Paired with seafood (salmon and tuna fish). Solid! — 8 months ago
Great citrus with a nice buttery mouthfeel — 9 months ago
I could drink this shit forever, it has a sexy marriage of minerality and acidity. I’m getting green apple, white peach, some lime. Also the suggestion of pizza dough and something savory like mushroom (just me???) — 2 years ago
3.3. We don’t usually drink Riesling, but this dry Riesling from Australia was a gift from a friend, and we very much enjoyed it with cheese and crackers before dinner. — 6 months ago
Minerality, crispness, mostly dry…a profile I love. I was pleasantly surprised by this find at Fred Meyer!

The final wine at the Yarra Yering dinner in Brisbane last Thursday night 3rd October 2024 with winemaker Sarah Crowe. Fitting that Dry Red No. 1 should be the final wine - arguably the Jewel in the Crown. Initial aromatic impressions are gorgeous. This is the 50th vintage of Dry Red No. 1. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Brief notes - blackberry, aniseed and bay leaf. A medium bodied Cabernet with M+ intensity and finishing with fine boned tannin structure. Power with poise, concentration with finesse. Will live for 20 years plus. I have been buying on an irregular basis for many years. The 1990 was a highlight. I asked Sarah, who was Chairman of the Royal Sydney Wine Show this year to compare 3 of the main Cabernet producing areas in Australia - Yarra Valley leafy fragrance, Coonawarra Mint, and Margaret River herbaceousness. A very good Zinfandel. Paired nicely with Italian beef sandwiches. — 9 months ago
Musty aromas with blackberry and plum. One the bud, a spice note with a bit of tartness. Overall a nice Zinfandel. — 9 months ago
Drank this on Halloween without a meal. The color is almost rosy. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more. — 3 years ago

Excellent Zin with a lot of fruits; blackberries, cranberries and some dark cherries. Also, spice, cedar and more. Did not know what to expect as Zin’s don’t go for a lot of aging. Happy I found this one in my cellar and have a couple of other Ridge wines I need to drink up.
I stopped purchasing Ridge years ago as I got into lighter wines. Visited Ridge Winery last century and had an excellent tasting as I remember and met and chatted with Paul Draper. — 4 months ago
