Pure Mediterranean bliss. Breezy and uncomplicated, this is a fun lil rosé. Perfect for the porch, or the hammock, or the bed. Strawberries and cotton candy with crispness and nice acidity. But it’s all about the vibes at the end of the day. In another world, a perfect hiking wine.

What an interesting take on Grenache. Deep purple with a ruby rim. The fruit on the bouquet is still bright and vivid with a core of cranberry and black pepper. Much softer and more refined than I was expecting. Very approachable with round tannins and earthy goodness. Cranberries and raspberries on the palate with spice and a touch of cloves. Really fun stuff. — a month ago
A medium gold color with lively effervescence. A rush of tiny bubbles immediately. This smells simply delicious after a bit of time and air. Baked apples and fresh brioche up front with a nice of touch of spice. Yellow fruits are prevalent here along with moist rocks and sea air. There’s this honey element that is truly excellent which tops it all off.
I know, I know it’s too young. You can’t open it yet, it’d be a crime. But sometimes you just have to. And it’s so good. So focused, so fresh, so substantial. A beautiful woman wearing a sexy evening gown. Racy acidity with a superb streak of minerality. This is indeed young and not what it will be in the future but the bones are obviously very good.
Thrilling on the tongue with a dash of electricity. Vivacious and energetic, it’s more than a bit luxurious and resplendent. The palate follows the nose closely but with more pronounced fruits and dried herbs. A beautiful, beautiful wine and one I can’t wait to taste years down the road. — 2 months ago
An attractive pale gold color with highly active perlage. Very typically Louis in every way. Warm brioche and an abundance of yellow fruit aromas initially. Apples and dandelions with a nice whiff of honey. Strawberries and a little bit of chalk.
The numbered collection series from Louis Roederer continues to impress. Based on the 2018 vintage with a generous amount of reserve wines. Baronial but zesty with terrific balance and structure. Obviously young but there’s plenty of potential for this to develop down the road.
Inviting and thrilling in the mouth. Biscuits and apple with plenty of lemon zest. Just a bit of oak and dried herbs. A lovely, lovely champagne and one that I’ll keep coming back to. — 16 days ago
What can I say about this…except that it’s awesome! A funky deep grenadine color in the glass. So much fruit on the nose with red berries and a bit of lime up front. All of the good natural wine characteristics here too. Funk and earth with a touch of floral goodness.
From Fabian Jouves who has one of the most fun and interesting lineup of wines in the game. The label is fun and so is the wine but it is serious business. 80/20 Malbec/Tannat from Cahors. A rosé yes, but more dense and substantial than expected. Spice and fresh berries on the palate. Super fun stuff. — a month ago
Another beautiful vintage from one of my favorite houses.
Medium gold with very pleasing perlage. Quite youthful with a bursting bouquet of pears, quince, and butter. A touch of apple and brioche.
Plenty of tension and drama here. Reminiscent of so many previous Veuve vintages, stately and refined. More precise and focused than in other years. Giving a definite Pinot profile with a medium body and a robust nature.
Plenty of fruit on the palate with cherries and raspberries initially. The citrus begins to creep in along with roasted nuts and toasted bread bread. Another outstanding champagne from Veuve. — a month ago
Pale old gold with a surfeit of tiny bubbles, very attractive. Quince, lemon, and chalk aromas open up immediately with plenty of green apples. Peach cobbler sprinkled with cinnamon and grapefruit notes for days. Melted butter and moist limestone.
A champagne that’s always easy to love time and time again. Blanc de Blancs from the Grand Cru villages of Cramant, Chouilly, and Mesnil sur Oger. From a perpetual reserve dating back to 2009. Aged three years on lees with an extra brut dosage of 4 g/l. Striking acidity but very approachable. This could obviously benefit from a few more years of storage but it’s so graceful today.
On the palate there’s just a faint touch of oak. Citrus and spice are so nice here. Quite autolytic in nature. The spice carries over to the finish. You really can’t have too many of these. — 25 days ago
A medium lemon color with a plethora of small bubbles. The nose is rather intense right of the bat with so much fruit all at once. Strawberries and raspberries with peach cobbler. The citrus aromas kick in and dominate after some air.
Single plot Pinot Meunier from the Vallée de L’ardre. Aged on lees for three years and very distinctive. Full bodied and savory, there’s depth and quite a bit of charm. Brioche and green apples on the palate with just a hint of chalk and roasted almonds. A fun new discovery for me. — a month ago
Deep purple with a garnet core. The nose is absolutely ridiculous with jammy fruit and earth. Blue and black berries with just a touch of cranberry for kicks. It’s so pretty.
Warm and inviting, there’s a good bit of finesse and personality here. It takes around an hour for the heat to blow off and once it does it becomes silky and more refined than you’re probably assuming. More berries and earth on the palate with some really nice spice on the finish. A fun surprise of a wine. — 2 months ago
Willie Carter
An attractive medium pink color with nice effervescence. Quite fruity on the nose with strawberries and blood oranges. The customary yeast aromas along with a nice infusion of herbs and oyster shells. The nose carries over to the palate with more fruit and a touch of apples and lemon cake in the mouth. There’s something of a spritzer effect here, in the best possible way.
A very clean and dry champagne, the extra brut dosage works wonders. Zippy acidity with a real sense of substance and of place. Delicious and refreshing. I need more of this. — 14 days ago
