boys nite. initial thought not as good as yarra yering or quintet — 3 years ago
Very right bank (yeah, I know it’s cab sauv). Super Bdx nose, very plush fruit, the malbec fleshes out the cab plenty. Really a joy to drink. Needed 20-30 mins to throw off some bottle must, then heaven with lamb fillet. — 4 years ago
Lovely sweetness on the nose, hits of berries, herbs and licorice. Fruity, chocolatey, spicy flavors delight and make it hard to pin down this wine. — 8 years ago
Nice balance but tasted warm. — 8 years ago
Amazing. Warm, comforting full bodied. This is a pre-release and I want a case now! — 9 years ago
Delectable - this is a new cuvée for Yarra Yering known as Amphora. Fermented in a 500 litre clayware Amphora. The final Shiraz Cabernet blend was 60/40. Sarah found the Cabernet component from the Amphora was less leafy. The whole amphora exercise was mainly an experiment. Not sure if she will continue with this in future years. — a year ago

Delectable, this is the Dry Red No1 Cabernet blend from Yarra Yering not Yering Station. Aromatics of mulberry and black currant. Also a lovely violet fragrance. On the medium bodied palate a red fruited sweetness with cedar and spice. Oak is totally resolved even if a touch of astringency. A remnant of dark chocolate. Drinking at its peak. An excellent Cabernet consistent with what Dry Red No. 1 always produces - proving yet again that the Yarra Valley’s best terroir is for Cabernet Sauvignon. IMO. See previous Delectable tasting notes. 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot. PS. This 2008 was the last vintage made by the legendary founder, Dr Bailey Carrodus, before he passed. — 2 years ago

Seriously disappointing for the price. Very pure expression of shiraz - more a syrah in body and character. The opposite of your typical Aussie shiraz; pinot weight, subtle but deep blue and black fruit, and a tea note. Couldn’t stand up to a steak. OK but not the great wine it should be. — 4 years ago
Easy, fruity and enjoyable — 7 years ago
This was the last vintage for the founder of Yarra Yering, Dr Bailey Carrodus before he passed. Classic Cabernet aromas - a slight greenish asparagus note which diminished with time. Medium weight palate with fine Tannins. YY is traditionally one of the best producers in the Yarra Valley and this is the 2nd ranked Cabernet cuvée. Herbaceous With time the nose and palate has developed a plummy sweetness. — 8 years ago

2014 vintage. 3 hour decant.
3/6.5/9.5 = 19 out of 100 say 96.
High quality Barossa Shiraz with an awesome bouquet apparent as soon as it’s released from the bottle (though I always think blending Viognier is cheating in that regard). Still a strong tannin/acid structure so still not at its peak - say 5 years more at least. High alcohol content but integrated perfectly - didn’t even notice. Really pleasant long linger. Standish is an artist so you must collect and try. My next move is to try back to back with a Yarra Yering Dry Red No. 2 — a year ago
