It’s not a red. It’s not a rose. It’s a rosed? Very drinkable chilled. Sort of smells like strawberry watermelon lemon jello. It sort of taste like cranberry juice with a splash of lemon, watermelon and apple juice (?). There’s some ocean spray salinity and good acidity. It paired well with ground pork sausage and rosemary pasta. I’m not sure what to make of this, but it’s definitely something I can enjoy on a warm or cool day, for no reason. — 4 years ago

Bodigraben Blaufränkisch.
Elegant and quite powerful. Blackfruit, sweet spice and a mineral, iron streak. Juicy acidity, great balance, good weight. Very nice. — 6 years ago

Mostly cab-merlot blend, a bit green on the nose but with air opened up with typical cabernet nose, plus hint of rose petal. Palate was red fruits, bit tart. — 5 years ago
Peppery nose with a fruity finish. Soft to the taste with a bit of tannins in the end. Tears are strong. — 6 years ago
Tastes like a Weninger Blaufränkisch, but is made from Mencia and Palomino. Great stuff, luv it! — 6 years ago

Beautiful mix between fruitiness and acidity. Potent flavours and a strong taste (sense) of grape — 4 years ago
Our wine consultant said that this is a unique wine but once we got use to it we would like. Well we really do in fact we love it. Unique cherry and blackberry flavours highlighting exotic spices and finishing with a wonderful mouth feel. Next time we’re in Calgary we’re loading up with this uniquely wonderful Austrian. 11.5% alc/vol. Cheers 🍷 — 4 years ago

Gracefully aged Blaufränkisch from Hungarian earth. Wonderful nose with dried red berries, underbrush, licorice and red currant. Still a lovely acidity, soft fully integrated tannins. The Barrique maturation is not noticeable. Franz Weninger is now slowly reducing the oak treatment in all his wines. Mainly using big, used old casks. Can't wait till the now actual wines are in the age window of this Steiner. The 2013 Steiner from slate soil is also a stunner. — 8 years ago
