A welcome departure from a focus on Bordeaux of late, this GSM from Barossa, despite being in the lower end of their range, is a gorgeous, powerful but quite pure wine with great complexity for this price point. The nose has southern Rhône personality mixed with Barossa weight, with steeped fruit, lavender, white pepper, a touch of iron. It has Port-like density on the palate, with flecks of liquorice and kirsch, is slightly hot even at 14.5% but otherwise a really solid wine! — 2 years ago
2018 much more minerality on the nose! Not what Zin reminds you of. Red cherries blackberry black pepper spices licorice medium acidity long spicy finish moderate body dark. notes from visit to the winery.
Alexander Valley. Bright red volcanic soils, steep rocky slopes and western exposure. — 3 years ago
Not sure the vintage is correct. The bottle just says Breca Garnacha. We love it!! Very juicy blackberry notes and long finish, not acidic or too much of anything. Is bold, but very drinkable on its own. Running out to buy more! — 3 years ago
The name of the estate comes from "Ca' Pazzo", shown on ancient maps. Estate covers an area of 190 hectares, 54 which are vineyards, 4 are olive groves, 87 which are wooded and 45 are planted with new vines. Deep Ruby with a berry fruit aromas blossom and smoke, aged for 2 years on oak. On the palate cherry & strawberry flavors, with leather, cacao and tobacco notes. Lively acidity, fine approachable tannins, long ending with spicy oak finish. — 5 years ago
Light peach and floral with hint of smoke hays on the nose. Profound minerality weaves through a round and slight waxy palate, with a long spicy and salty finish. I don’t drink Chenin Blanc often, but with a bit bottle age, this bottle is showing very nice. — 6 years ago
Voted WOTN for good reason. This has been a bucket list wine for me. Some sections of this famous vineyard were planted in 1860 but all of the vines are ridiculously old. It’s bombastic and really stands out from the crowd. Very expressive both on the nose and on the palate. Full bodied and multi layered. Creamy and rich texture. Dark berries, plums, coffee, cigar, orange peel, eucalyptus, soy, cigar box and an array of oriental spices. Probably at a peak right now, such a joy to drink. — 2 years ago
A little smoke on the nose as well as black Cherry, Cherry pie on the palate — 4 years ago
Good every day wine. Repeat depending on price — 5 years ago
Dried red fruits and earthiness on the nose, tart cherry up front, then a pepper finish that lingers. Very nice! — 5 years ago
Holds up and is quite delicious but no need to age. — 6 years ago
Didn’t like it at first, after tasting other wines. Really grew on me. Tastes like papaya. — 9 months ago
Made in a small town at foot of Sierra Cantabria in the DO. A single variety Tempranillo from 50 year old vines has a deep Ruby red color and aged for 18 months in French and American oak. Aromas of red fruit and spice. On the palate ripe black fruit, fine tannins, well balanced with a medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and some oak notes. Nice! — a year ago
If you like CA cabs you must try this wine!!! Any vintage will do. Unreal depth and balance and a finish that just keeps on going! Enjoy!! — 3 years ago
First sips were disappointing in the brevity of the hit on the palate. Gave it an hour and it lengthened beautifully. This wine has a ton of fruit (crushed sweet red berries), velvety tannins, and great structure. I would be fascinated to see what 10+ years does to it — 3 years ago
Old vine Garnacha from the Calatayud Region of Spain. Aromas and flavors of ripe plum and dark cherries. Hints of leather and sweet spices. Bright and bold, but there is a bit of sharpness on the finish. — 5 years ago
February 20, 2020. Picked up a couple Spanish wines on sale to try. This one’s a winner! Full bodied, dark red, full of ripe dark fruit and complexity. Let it open up and you will be rewarded. — 5 years ago

One of my all-time favorites. Explosive on the tongue, fruit forward. A lingering aftertaste — 8 months ago
