Had this bottle at the Bird Cafe in Pt Arena. They have very reasonable corkage fees. This is a very velvety dense Pinot. Loved it, so glad I started buying from winery in early 2000, think this 2014 could go another 15-20 years.
Slow to open, but lasting through the 3 hour dinner, wish bottle was bigger — 6 years ago
The most delicious and refined super premium wine out Spain that you never heard of. A selection of the fruit from a small old vineyard plot planted over 100 years ago. Only the best will go i to Vatan Arena, and a special Wine this is. Think Bordeaux meets with early 80’s Napa and had a lovechild! If you get a chance to by some, drink some do it! I can only imagine how this beauty would age! — 7 years ago
The complete vermentino: citrus & tart orchard fruit, underripe white peach, delicately floral, and salty rounded out just right with a little lees aging. — 8 years ago
Similar to Vatan but less powerful / more elegant. Fantastic QPR, very likable wine — 8 years ago
Aromatic, ripe Apple, pear, pineapple, earth, flint, minerality. M+ acid. M body. Lemon zest, saline, minerality. Another one that you can taste the earth. Long finish. Complex and lovely. — 9 years ago
When Kermit Lynch tells you to re-visit the islands, you do it. #vermentino #corsicanwine — 6 years ago
Massive 15.5% smackdown from Alicante. Strong thick slow legs. Full bodied. The nose is earthy with white pepper, hint of black licorice. Palate is interesting. Quite silky, immediate attack is dusty, supposedly like the terrain (late revision: this note subsiding over time); then big fruit, the end is a tad candyish with very little tannic grip. I had this with a light meal. It would have paired better with steak, or heat spice. Great wine, but Vatan is better in this price range for Spain.

Local wine shop has me on this Corsican kick lately for which I am thankful. This wine is deep and intense with dark complexity and a moody dried fruits and herbs combo. — 7 years ago
Almost on the cherry almond amaretto palette. For a novelty wine, this is very surprising. Definitely a sweet taste but pleasant with the appropriate dessert. Like pistachio gelato. Yum — 8 years ago
A bit like old Savennières. Hazelnut and quince. A fino sherry note also. — 8 years ago
