Petit Verdot from one of my favorite Napa wineries. This is a very rustic but nicely refrained wine. Good tannins, good fruit, with acidity as well. — 4 years ago
Shiitake mushrooms, soy sauce, dried cranberry, very savory — 5 years ago
Not for the faint of heart but delicious! — 6 years ago
Wonderful and the normal intensity of this grape. Turnbull in Napa makes a great Lagrein. They probably found a creative way to bring in the vines. — 3 years ago
Strong nose of red fruit, body tannic with plenty if fruit still held hostage by substantial tannins — 3 years ago
Predecessor to today's Turnbull Winery..think around $30 bucks back in its time.
Double decant (decent chunky sediment) and pour. A sterling tawny ruby red color with good bricking. On the nose: A surprisingly expressive nose!......sweet aged cab perfume, cherries, Eucalyptus, cedar, green veggies, smoked meats. Taste: elegant, smooth, nice mouthfeel, medium body wine with dried black fruit, dried herbs, pepper, and a currant & leather medium finish with just a little tannic kick after all these years. A gift from a friend, and a TREAT to drink this Saturday night!!!!! — 4 years ago
Decanted for 90 mins and was impressed. Depth of the second half of the bottle after 24 hours was even more impressive. Big range on this. Dark rich fruits and the lead is the nose as others have said. I’ll be back (yes! I wrote that before realizing what I was writing). My first experience with a Turnbull was a success. — 5 years ago
My contribution to the evening - very Bordeaux styled with the main difference being the crazy Pyrazines in the aroma. 60% new French oak and 40% neutral oak barrel aging, with 91% Sauvignon Blanc, ending in Semillon and Muscat, 100% estate fruit, made by Kristen Belair, who spent time making wine at Turnbull, and Trefethen. Most guessed Bordeaux graves. Excellent wine and not what I expected. Kind of funky on the nose too, so though it is a pale, and light colored wine... it could actually use light decanting to let the funk and pyrazine burn off just a tad. — 6 years ago
This is the 2020 ... couldn’t find the year yet on here. Despite the crumbly cork, super fun to drink! — 3 years ago

A Napa Cabernet Franc tasting with the family today. The Detert and the Larkin were the favorites of the group; both had gorgeous black cherry and blueberry fruit with terrific aromatic intensity. The Gandona Meia and the Studio Seven-Fifty need more time. The Turnbull was slightly corked. — 6 years ago
