Popped this in anticipation of an Australian victory over England in the Rugby World Cup quarter final when we trailed 17-16 in the 2nd half. However we ended up getting trounced 40-16. This Champers was mid Lemon Gold with an ultra fine bead. Funky lemon mineral notes with apple pie pastry. Even at 17 years good tension with possibly another 10 years of cellaring. Although pretty irresistible right now. As Churchill said You deserve Champagne in victory and you need it in defeat! — 6 years ago
A fine rioja. Off a coravin’ed magnum bottle. Loved it — 7 years ago

Smooth red wine. Not sweet but delicious! — 9 years ago
As always, Krug is for me, the perfect illustration of power and fineness. The common thread amongst all of the bottles I have been fortunate to taste is a sense of luxury. In a wine, luxury is not an easy to define, but most certainly Krug has it. A generous nose of brioche, apple galette, quince and nutmeg. The mousse is quite fine, gracefully leading into full texture, and an acid spine that pierces through layers of crème and orchard fruit. And the finish—as long and languid as any great story arc. — 10 years ago
Agree with those who describe the finesse in this reserve. Long open but worth the wait every time. apparently higher in sangiovese than other vintages and it works just fine. Really nice Antinori offering! — 4 years ago
2016. Valerie discover this wine at her Von’s. It is our go-to second wine, and many a time, our first wine. Dry and sophisticated for a $15 bottle of wine. — 5 years ago
Delicious Jammy Berries, blackberry, spice, wood, vanilla, what a nice nose after sitting in the glass for a while. — 6 years ago
Of the 2 Bordeaux drinking the best tonight, but long term the Brane-Cantenac 2005 will outlive this wine by 10 years easy. While very complex, a fine touch a green is traceable.
A classic currant and forest floor nose, fall leaves abound with a spike of spice and a barely there green that while subtle is apparent.
The pleasure here is higher for its more mature tasted and feel, while the brawny 2005 is a better wine it was not as enjoyable to me and feel it will be another notch enter in 3 years, and likely 2 notches better in 5.
The elegance and feel on this wine is ready to go and will easily go another 5+ years. — 9 years ago
Rich color. Lots of layered flavors. Blueberry. Deep flavor — 9 years ago
Nice, minerality, jammy wine with an oak finish — 4 years ago
Just will say that it is near perfect with a peppery steak. — 5 years ago
Another excellent Tobin James everyday wine. Aromas of fruit and berries, inky black, well balanced. Very nice — 6 years ago
2002 vintage, April 17. A lovely golden straw colour with perfect fine bead. Seems to me to have a strong Pinot noir base with the fruit smells and tastes that this brings. As usual with a great wine, enjoyed but gone too quickly. — 8 years ago
A bit of oxidation, but otherwise, just fine. Fruit still there. 1970, 45 year old wine for our 45th Anniversary. — 10 years ago

Fine intensity of developed aromas with a defined ripe and autolytic complexity. Primary red apples, raspberries, lemon and orange fruit drops, secondary aromas of nougat, hazelnuts, butter, toast and a chalky, oyster shell minerality.
High acidity, medium - body. A creamy, peristant mousse and linear acidity drives the palate. Intense presence on the mid palate with characters of red apples, fruit drops, coffee beans and chalk. Medium + lenght finish that lacks some dimension and lenght to compete with the best. — 4 years ago
