Cuvée Romane Savagnin

2022 vintage. A blend of 90% Savagnin (aka Traminer) and 10% Chardonnay from the " Grandes Vignes" vineyard ( Eric Thill also produces a 100% Chardonnay from this plot). Indigenous yeasts. Aged 10 months in stainless steel. Very low in alcohol (12,5%, whereas the 2018 was 15%!). Nose needs some air, decanting recommended. Clean, fresh, with subtle spices enhancing the fruit. Very good length too. Paired with black Camargue rice, fennel, and duck. This wine works really well with fennel ( not the easiest vegetable to combine with wine). Another great effort from this excellent estate. — 6 days ago

Les Grandes Vignes Poulsard

2022 vintage. So light, and so much flavour. Typical very light transparent red colour. Flowers, red berries, and delicate spices. Subtle, elegant with crisp redcurrant, sour cherry and cranberry fruit, a light tannic bite and good length. Delicious and delicate. Abv. 11,5 %. — a year ago

Cotes du Jura Poulsard

2018 vintage. Poulsard has very little pigmentation in the skin and therefore looks in general more like a rosé, but this wine has a very deep colour for this variety (typical for the vintage I was told). Éric Thill is a great producer, and this is a great example of the grape variety. Subtle, but captivating perfume, flowers mixed with red berries and a subtle hint of basil. Light and delicate in the mouth, but in no ways thin. Juicy bright red berries, a subtle spiciness and a nice tannic bite that gives it an irresistible slightly rustic charm. Good length too. Lovely. Be prepared to finish a whole bottle on your own. Abv. 12,5%. — 4 years ago

De Marne et d'Argile Cotes du Jura Chardonnay 2018

2018 vintage. Côtes de Jura Chardonnay "De Marne et d'Argile" by Eric and Bérengère Thill. Light golden colour. Intense perfume of apricots and walnuts, somewhere in between the "ouillé" and "non-ouillé" styles ( ask for more technical information: 10% non-ouillé).. This might leave many tasters puzzled, but I find it delicious, intense and characterful with great length. Eric Thill uses only indigenous yeasts and this wine was aged for 16 months in stainless steel. Terrific value for a gastronomic wine with a unique personality. — 2 years ago
