Sometimes no other wine will do for me than old-style (13% ABV) Bordeaux, and this lovely medium-aged Pauillac absolutely fills the bill, redfruits, structured but not really tannic, great acid balance really lifts the fruit, not a blockbuster, but very fine nonetheless, I could drink a lot of this!! — 2 years ago
Way too young. Still pretty tough after a 5-6 he decant. There’s is a lot of structure here and the dark roasted fruit plays well with the other aromas / flavors like charcoal, pencil lead, and soil. Not my go-to style of wine, but decent with prime rib. — 4 years ago

Delicious, and a bit on the feminine side with less richness and body as in other editions, which I thought was interesting given the composition. Crowd favorite. — 6 years ago
This wine has a very nice fruity body with a bit of a dry finish. Currants come to mind. This is a wine best paired with a mind ready to transcend beyond this temporal realm, through the veil, and into the Void of Distortion! This wine is the palatable equivalent of a saw wave oscillating through the plenum cabling and into your grey matter. One day we will all be consumed by the cubular harbingers. But until that day consider Lodi’s plunger-head wine. On a Tuesday evening it is quite nice. — 6 years ago
Dry but balanced, really good. $14.24 from golden eagle — 7 years ago
Medium deep garnet , wider terracotta rim . Slightly more rounded , red plum , cranberry, iris, touch of menthol , anis , with sous bois and smoky, herbal touches. On the palate quite delicate , more red sous bois fruited , pretty and saline , slightly meaty notes also . Balanced quite fresh acidity , resolved tannin . Ok length , quite delicate sous bois, grafite tinged finish. This is at the end of its drinking window , though still showing well . Now and over the next 5 years . Quite charming and delicate overall , more aromatic , less austere than the other vintages. — 9 months ago
My first impressions of the 2020 Pégau “Cuvée Reservée”. I brought this bottle to Tasting Group and presented it double-blind to the crew, for science! The wine pours a deep ruby with a translucent core. Moderate staining of the tears; high viscosity. On the nose: the wine is moderate intensity; developing. Ripe cherry and bramble fruits with some strawberry, anise, exotic spices, garrigue, and lavender. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium+ tannin and medium+ acid and medium+ alcohol. The tannins are super grippy. The finish is long, herby and there is a streak of black pepper. Whoa…this is a gorgeously expressive wine! Some felt it was 1er cru Burg. Other thought something form Italy: Brunello or CCR. Only one, the only Advanced Somm in the group, called CdP, but he called 2016. Having had many 2016’s recently, I can see where he was coming from. But make no mistake, this will age well despite it’s current approachability. Drink now to enjoy its youth before it potentially (likely) shuts down. Otherwise, this will drink well for 10-15+ years. — 2 years ago
Another delicious and super approachable 100% mourvedre from Ryan Pease of Paix sur Terre. For those who don’t know, Ryan has a friend who does all of the original artwork for these labels. Great operation there - do yourself a favor and check them out! — 4 years ago
Moving fuel. 42 year old Tempranillo and a uniquely American delicacy to celebrate Independence Day 🧀 🇺🇸 I’m unpacking boxes and listening to the Padres vs Dodgers so other than the wine I’m full throttle Americana today. The Vina Todonia cork dropped in to the bottle immediately upon contact from the Durand so I was not hopeful....but it’s totally intact and it presents with significant bricking in the decanter with expected brown and red tones and is chock full of secondary notes of burnt fig, savory smoke, cigar and soil. Soft tannins and waning acidity but it seems to be putting on “weight” as the afternoon progresses. Another solid showing from this producer at an advanced age. Great stuff. Happy 4th of July to all!! 🍎 ⚾️ 🍷 ☀️ — 6 years ago
[from 750] drinking very well right now (2018). Indescribable? Taste from some other axis of space-time-sense? Custard, melon, pineapple, diesel, bandaid, orange spice. . . — 7 years ago
Really solid, moderately priced pinot. Delightfully light, reminds me of a carneros pinot, nice with a little chill and any summer food you can think of. — 9 months ago
An excellent, smooth wine with floral notes. A little less powerful than other vintages I have tried from Lynch-Bages. Cassis, blackberries, blueberries, milk chocolate, a hint of vanilla, and mushrooms. — 10 months ago
Agree with those who describe the finesse in this reserve. Long open but worth the wait every time. apparently higher in sangiovese than other vintages and it works just fine. Really nice Antinori offering! — 4 years ago
Clear blackberry, cherry, and other dark fruit notes. — 6 years ago
Not much to say about this benchmark bojo that hasn’t already been said, other than this vintage is a bit darker, denser and less open than others. It’s very enjoyable now with its supple texture, plentiful acid, sweet blackberry, dark cherry, campfire and dank earth flavors. But will hold the rest of these 2-3 more years as it has the potential to be special. — 7 years ago

Enjoyed alongside some other Napa legends from the 80’s and 90’s. This was stunning and to my palate, on this night, seemed to show the best of the Napa flight. The 1992 shows classic Dunn Howell with ample dark and red fruits, tobacco, earth, leather and fine baking spices. Stout structure. Everything in beautiful balance. Drink now with unmitigated glee and through 2042 because just like Barry, this has Staying Power. — 9 months ago
