2016 annata top. Etereo dal 2024/26 — 5 years ago
Roberto Voerzio's Barolo Cerequio 2007 is pure seduction. Perfumed, there is a heady outpouring of rose petals, Madagascar vanilla, black cherries, Italian plum, tar, black tea leaves, and tobacco. The attack is forceful, though not without composure, boasting stunning power and a graceful, masculine energy. Taught, fine-grained tannins, and a structured core signifies long aging potential. Notes of truffle, aged leather and tobacco lead into a polished and incredibly persistent finish. — 11 years ago
Took some time to open but showed its stuff. Cloudy, but classic advanced Barolo. — 11 years ago

Fruit sourced from five vineyards, Brunate, Liste, Cerequio, Cannubi and Raviole. Medium Ruby red color with aromas of red fruit, earthy spices, floral and cedar. On the palate flavors of sour cherry and raspberry with notes of floral, smoky tobacco, vanilla and oak. Long finish, nice balance with fine soft tannins, ending with an earthy character. Needs a few years in the bottle! — 2 years ago
Founded in 1956 by Michele and Giuseppina Chiarlo. Son of over 7 generations of wine growers, and a leading figure in Piedmont viticultural industry. Aromas of fresh sweet dark berry fruits & minty herb notes. Cherry, plum and minty flavors, some licorice, cola and cacao, well balanced with defined tannins. Complex lingering finish ending with nice earthy notes. Still has years to run. — 9 years ago
Bricked out color. Dried cherries, very dark chocolate powder, dried sage and thyme, and Fennel. Beautiful texture. Happy birthday Megan! — 11 years ago

We had the honor of a private tasting with Silvia Altare in the Michele Chiarlo tasting room at Palas Cerequio in La Morra. Silvia is the daughter of Elio Altare, Godfather of modern Barolo. She is a delightful, humorous, efferevescent and worthy heir to her family's craft. The 2010 is a culmination of all the family has learned since they began making Barolo in small casks, and revolutionizing what was otherwise (at the time) little more than small fruit production in the Barolo region. She tells the story of her grandfather leaving the vineyard for two days and her father taking a chainsaw to the family's traditional large casks in favor of his new approach.
Elegant, with perfect poise in tannins and acidity, this single cru from Arborina will go for decades. — 11 years ago

Excellent wine.
Would have never guessed it was 25 years old.
After some time in decanter and in the glass - it began to show some tertiary and real balsamic notes
But this wine really paired well with risotto. It cut the richness without overpowering and provided some solid fruit and tannin
There is both some power and elegance in this wine that works quite well — 4 months ago
