Minerally, slight apricot tang, paired well with salmon. I really enjoyed this one — 5 years ago
Domaine Bizot lunch today hosted by their winemaker Thomas Berry. This is a producer who’s wines are virtually impossible to find. They have 9 plots with an average yearly production at 9000 btls. Whole cluster with some new oak, very small yields & small amounts of sulphur added. Their wines are lush & pure with no intervention showing purity of fruit, sweet spices along with floral notes. They are so delicious now you can drink them young but will reward long term cellaring. (Aka Liger Belair) — 5 years ago
Wow, this was a pleasant surprise. In perfect shape after 9 years and no oak in the wine. Plummy Malbec flavors with some nice herbs from the Cab. Plenty of acidity and life to this one. Check back in 5 years. — 6 years ago

Good Depth. Dense masculine and concentrated. Medium plus body and Intensity. More how I would identify Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru. Biggest wine in the bracket. Dry powdery Tannins. I thought this was the Dugat Py Mazis when tasted blind and most of us were gob smacked when it was revealed as a Charmes. James Halliday who was at the tasting, and who has tasted more Burgundy than the rest of the room put together, said put this one away “for your grandchildren”. No. 4 of 9 in bracket. — 8 years ago
CVed 3/16/17 Nebbiolo comp. Cork seemed a bit high and will need to check. Great balance and complexity of earth and dark fruits and long finish. Opened at Frog Hollow 7/9/18 final move-in date. Great wine. Same score. No deterioration. — 8 years ago
Perfectly balanced white blend! Not too sweet, tart, acidic, etc. Would be a total crowd pleaser, and would repurchase — 5 years ago
Only 15 acres planted with grapes grown in Rutherford (warmer with rich ripe fruit) & Oak Knoll (cooler with fresh acidity in grapes). Pale lemon, with fresh & crisp citrus & stone fruit aromas, no malolactic fermentation. Palate shows peach, apple & Asian pear flavors, with lemony & toasty notes, lively acidity & balance with touch of vanilla oak (9 months of French oak aging (25% new & 1-year old, remainder neutral oak). Long finish ending with fruit, spice & biscuit notes. Very Nice! Tasting Sample. — 5 years ago
I received this wine as a gift. Apparently their tasting room in Yountville is a partnership of some sort with Ralph Lauren Home... which seems like a brilliant concept to sell furniture, etc. Lime and peach lead the way, with some tropical undertones. Plenty of salty minerality that reminds me of Albariño. — 7 years ago

fully opaque violet, magenta rim, prominent tears; plum, black cherry, dark chocolate, coffee, leather, and cedar; dense, concentrated, juicy dark fruit, good length; full bodied, medium acidity, gritty tannins, no heat despite 15.3% ABV; made from blend of 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, and 9% Petit Verdot sourced from two estate vineyards with 59% of fruit from Les Pavots vineyard in Knights Valley in Sonoma County and 41% of fruit from Au Paradis vineyard in Oakville, aged 18% in French oak; a very nice fruit forward, early drinking second wine; $110 — 5 years ago
No. 5 of 9 in the Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru bracket. Tasted blind. Showing that Gevrey Chambertin earth and muscle (even though ended up being a Charmes which gets a little less sun than Le Chambertin to its north). My notes: Cherry, Liquorice, Tar; palate staining intensity - sweet, picked later in the season? Quantity produced down as Gevrey C hit hard by the frosts. Liked this a lot. — 5 years ago
Délicieux, tres fort en bulles, s'évapore en bouche. — 7 years ago
This 2002 trockenbeeredauslese is 9%. I don’t know how to rate this wine. It slightly oxidized in ac good way. Sweet and syrupy. Kinda heavy. Very intense flavors. Reminded me of upstate NY ice wine. The ice wine is similarly intense but lighter and fruitier. — 7 years ago

Saturday night 9 Jan. had with Pirk Casserole.
Not usually Sav Blanc drinkers but this was very well balanced and had a nice rich almost creamy feel as was put on barrels for a short time. Good mouthfeel and soft varietal ie not overtly grassy or lemony etc — 5 years ago
