Day 2 of Napa in the books!
20yrs young! This was also served to us blind and we all guessed it was mid-late 2000s Seavey Cab. All the red and black fruit notes are still present with mellowed out tannin. Very smooth and polished. Big note of baked mixed berry (cherry, blackberry) pie that is covered in a cloud of sweet vanilla pipe tobacco. Ripe & rich up front, savory in the middle, balanced finish. Incredible for its age. — 6 years ago
Began as black olives for miles but betrayed its fruit roots quickly enough, with baked black cherry, and a black plum mash; black currant and gingerbread-mocha notes sparkling on its grainy veneer. Torn violet petals. Lots of sediment, or pigmented tartaric crystals. Super elegant and fleshy mouthfeel is perhaps its most compelling nuance. Black currant, soft leather, smoke, a scribble of pencil, snuffed wick, teak, and black tea. Bittersweet chocolate remains like a cloud, suspended while most aspects fade. Leather friction.

Utterly classic Brunello. You’ll have to get dark Cabernello from other places. Not me. I only work with 3 Brunello and each one is more classic than the next. Anyway. Gorgeous and precise nose. Ver y lifted and pure. Amazing essence of ripe cherries. Killer. Like a perfume. Palate is like a laser. So focused with gorgeous puffy cloud-like tannins and lovely sweet and deep cherry fruit. Long finish with some unresolved tannin that will integrate with age. — 7 years ago
Oh shit. Dances across your palate. Disappears like a cloud. Beautiful pure expression of chard. One of the best bottles of champers I've ever had. — 8 years ago
This was the GSM (as opposed to the Shiraz that was matched by the database). $30 a bottle. Very nice. Would recommend/gift. — 9 years ago
Seemed like there was a cloud covering the aromas for 4 hours -- reminded me of young Bourgogne rouge. Better w food — 9 years ago
Active peach-gold and inscrutably, near opaque, with an arrogantly vaulted, whited foam tower, unblemished by human tears; clinging lacing like dish soap suds, tear raggedly to silhouettes of prehistoric headbutts. Soapy breastmilk and citrus rising on yeast, grapefruit pith peeled thinly, clover rolls just browning, and leather fringes. Lively mouthfeel as expected. Lime pith and grapefruit with papery ginger slices, orange zest, magnolia, carrot bread, straw, zucchini spirals, ginseng, and banana peel. Complex rusticity. .

Very jammy with spice as well - my favorite flavors of Zinfandel, balanced well. — 6 years ago
Tannin has grip to it. A mouthful takes me into a cloud forest, a knot of jungle and brush. Intricate and sinewy, like the musculature of a dancer. — 7 years ago
Compared to a 2010 Judge and 2010 Aubert Lauren, this one was easily the third place finisher. The fruit here is definitely there, acidity definitely there on the open.....would it be kosher to call a Peter Michael "boring" ?? That is pretty much the sentiment I had about this one. And of course I use that term very loosely because with a nice salmon or swordfish steak I would have been on Cloud 9 with this wine. It had RIDICULOUS competition tonight. Nice structure, very big on the opening, dried fruit notes on the middle, and very rounded edges on the finish. This is definitely the tux and tails Chard of the night, whereas the other two seemed to have more harsh edges. — 7 years ago
Excellent well priced £23 Chablis Premier Cru 👍 in a quite chunky bottle 😎
🍷 Straw yellow
👃 Torn lemon zest over crushed wet mineral rocks w/ a light honey, apple & pear mist
👄 Med refreshing slight creamy & dry body of zesty sweet lemon curd w/ green fruit & minerals following through
🎯 Long touch dry mineralised lemon & green sweet fruit linger
📸 Oh & yes took advantage of a weird cloud formation for this shot 😁 — 8 years ago
Smooth, chocolatey with hints of oak and stone fruit. — 9 years ago
Pine and acid - a delicious experience — 6 years ago
Last of several bottles, 2005 vintage- still strong but perhaps some wear & tear. Still, an elegant (for Etna) wine, brick red in appearance, strong acidic backbone yet lithe in its medium body. Black fruits, no blueberries here, & the strong tannins are mostly integrated.I can imagine the Pinot comparisons, but feel this kind of Etna is even more unique. Has a slight petrol character, not unpleasant, reminds of a modern Alsatian Pinot noir. Nothing suave here either, but the in house aging & overall old school approach reminds too of old school Rioja like Lopez. Oh, & these sell for under 30$. Crazy. — 6 years ago
Great wine! Nose of blueberry and plum, hint of spice. Jammy notes, dark fruits, a bit of spice and licorice. Very nice! — 7 years ago
A Chardonnay that sings like a classic cloud of limestone, lemons & whiffs of smoky minerals. — 7 years ago
On the nose there’s a cloud of smoke and sea salt hovering over aromas of lemons, peaches and honeysuckle. It’s pretty hefty in body for a Sauvignon Blanc, with a waxy mouthfeel and an acidity so perfectly and ridiculously balanced that you hardly notice it at all. There’s flavors of lemon peel, peaches, green peppers, and aspirin. Then it finishes hot with white pepper and lemon peel. — 8 years ago
Tear up the vintage chart, forget about the dominance of Chardonnay in Chassagne- this is a delicious red Burgundy. This Colin has sappy fruit, seamless texture and great fresh, red Pinot fruit. This wine has generous aromatics and flavors- after an hour in the decanter it was completely open, yet never stopped offering interest. This delivers on the promise of good Burgundy- a far rarer bird than great Burgundy, at a very fair price! — 8 years ago

Boug Gloug if you ask me. Its tantalizing fuschia hue reels you in, before you know it you're eye to eye with an intellectual dressed in jeans and a tshirt but the more you smell the sexier she becomes...its terroir full of subtleties shines in your face, and across the palate, and hints of pepper over the raspberry, strawberry bliss makes you wonder why all wines can't be so beautifully simple and yet authentically complex. — 5 years ago
