California with a very judicial hand. Did best to keep it fresh. Sorta won. Simple. Fun. — 7 years ago
I know I should have waited but I just had to have it with smoked pork shoulder, pulled pork. it was near perfect. — 8 years ago
Exceeded my expectations. Dosage felt high but it was a nice Champagne to open with Family on thanksgiving. — 2 years ago
13.5% ABV Salute to Lulu Peyraud of Domaine Tempier in France. Lulu’s father owned the vineyard , and she along with her husband took it over. Sadly we lost her in October 2020 at the age of 102 y/o. This is a blend of old vine Mataro and Grenache. Light salmon color, watermelon initially , later apple. Very nice! — 3 years ago
Opaque dark violet with clear meniscus.. couldn’t have told this is 12 yrs old looking at the wine in the glass. Medium viscosity. oak-spiced, red and blue fruit, chocolate, tobacco and floral pastille aromas. Mocha and vanilla flourish. Plush, velvety and broad mouthfeel, it offers sweet cassis and blackberry flavors with a long spice and oak finish. Rich and energetic in style, medium acidity, resolved medium minus tannins and medium alcohol. Delicious expression of a high quality CA cab. I like this much better than bold and high ABV CA cabs. This was 14% ABV. — 5 years ago
Delicious Pinot. Well balanced fruit with dark cherry flavors and soft tannins. It was even better on day 2. — 6 years ago
Took an hour to open but when it did.... — 7 years ago
This wine rocked it with family movie night. Initial palate reminded of a smooth St. Joseph. Oddly it was best pop and pour the first hour or so... then seemed to shut down, not even opening the second night. The movie "Sing" I give a 9.5 and recommend finding some little friends to watch with. — 8 years ago
Oh so balanced. So balanced as to border on boring but more than not object-able. Plus the non-boring bits: black pepper, green pepper, stewed blueberries with thyme (an obscure reference but try it and you'll see). This wine had just enough oomph and earth to lift it beyond a berry and tannin balanced beauty to a balanced beauty queen. — 8 years ago
This was one of the first Pet Nats that had years ago and it still hits. Love everything Michael Cruz does. This sparkling Valdigue is easy drinking with still awesome complexity. Nose of rose and strawberry. Notes of rose hip, camomile, and bright green apple. First wine in the new house in NOLA. — 3 years ago
Full pear, enjoyed it!! Would order again $138 — 3 years ago
Delicious Pinot Noir, thicker than most Pinot’s, but worth it. — 5 years ago
This has been here awhile, reasonable and bold... it’s a Washington gig so it fits my Ora Dora — 6 years ago

An “intermezzo” as we prepared for the reds flights. This was served blind. The 1978 shows really young for its age. Most at the table, including myself, were convinced that this was classified growth Bordeaux with maybe 20-30 years of age. However at least one of us thought it was Napa…and whoa. The color was dark and handsome though there was some sediment (to expected). The fruit was bright but I felt it was secondary to the dried leaf tobacco, earth and leather notes. There was good acid too. Tannins have integrated. Lots of wows when this was revealed while the Napa holdouts gave a smile. Bravo. This could easily live well for another 10 or so years. — 2 years ago
