Lean mouthfeel that turns sharply mid-palate to a gravelly mineshaft of nutmeg, black sesame, burnt brownie bits, and soft cranberry jellies wraps up herbaceously with cedar chips, Provençal herbs, hazelnut, Brazil nut skin, hot saw blades salivating old cherrywood and belching pipe tobacco. Chocolate-y brown nose, with malty coffee, caramel and a smidgen of maple and wheat bran. Frothy cappuccino head with sudsy lacing. Wooden, dark-toast entry shows a mousse of some finesse, a rootbeer type character that becomes honeyed, then bakers Choctaw, but always with a sugared black coffee playing shadow. Ends with an expansive, bitter kola nut hangs around to make interesting conversation with your taste buds. Her name is Caryatis, and her wooden demeanor should not be taken as a surly distillation of her character, but merely a symptom of the Sazerac she had for breakfast. — 10 years ago

A real treat. Wonderfully complex and intense nose which went through a few phases. Nose was driven by truffle, earth, flowers, spice, and a touch of fruit.
