From magnum. Had it next to the stylistically similar Fourrier Gevrey VV, but this was the better wine for me - it had a little more depth and texture. Started of similarly reductive, but quickly opened up to scents of roses, intense red cherry, and smoky insence. The palate's velvety, mix of red and dark fruits, rich but offers lots of freshness with its crisp acidity. Minerality plays second fiddle at the moment, but is evident in the long spicy finish. I bet this was how it looked like when it was first bottled, so time can only make it better. 1er level for sure!
NB: From WH - This plot is located on the southern side of Griotte-Chambertin alongside the Claude Dugat plot and below the Duroché plot of Griottes-Chambertin. It is quite strange that this vineyard has been classified as village as it’s located so close to the Grand Crus. — 5 years ago
Gummy worms and sea salt nose, elderberry and lemon syrup mouth, fantastic ripe mouthfeel, strange but very pleasant — 6 years ago
Nose: Big and huge aroma of saffron, dried gooey white fig, honeyed vanilla, and some strange notes of new plastic.
Palate: What was found on the nose seems to come through on the palate. Sweet finish that has no end. — 6 years ago
Heitz has still got it baby, 1998 Napa cab standing up nicely at 18 years old. The color is only just showing signs of age. The nose is full of mint and lamb. In a strange spot since its not especially lush or fruity and yet hasn't fully developed the tertiary notes you would expect. But has the bones to go longer still. — 8 years ago

Really cool beer. Super smoky, malty, yeasty, vanilla, malt balls, almost peaty on the palate with a finish of smoked oysters(strange, I know). I was reluctant to spend $16 on a 4-pack, but have to say, it’s worth it. Could honestly have used more descriptors, so complex.. Doug, you’d love this. — 5 years ago
A unique and strange nose. Leather and crab apples. Has a sweet tart flavor. Raspberry and tasty tart pie cherries. WTF? This is Zin? It’s like a Barbera, Chianti, Valdigué, Zin. — 6 years ago
Pleasantly surprised, but it definitely needed the right food. It was great with a gnocchi in Parmesan and Gorgonzola sauce. The bright acid cut through the rich cream sauce. Some roasted lamb brought out the herbaceous notes, and once again the lighter body and acid helped to balance the rich dish. It was strange that it paired horribly with a carbonara dish- something about the prosciutto made it musty tasting. I think the key to the enjoyment of this wine is the food pairing, so pair wisely! — 6 years ago
Strange for an Etna Rosso, but delicious. Don't get nearly the volcanic minerality that I'd expect, but do get some red fruit and some gamay-like funk. — 7 years ago
Cool label. It’s terroir art apparently. Smells complex and strange. Blood orange peel? Sawdust from pine or fir? Flavors are strange. Pine needles and red/purple fruits. Complex and fresh even 10 years later. Licorice and fruit skins. It’s tart, chewy, woody, and inky. Deep and dense. Last long. It’s muy delicioso. — 4 years ago
Lovely ruby, dusky red color. Aroma is rich, robust and rustic. Rose petals from the English and rain storms from the French. Some fresh red and black berries from the mountains as well. Flavor is herbs and blood oranges. Damask rose and cherry nectar. Dry, acid, perfumed and herbal, but dynamic and flavorful. It’s strange and hard to pigeon hole, but unique, exquisite and interesting as well. ‘Tis what makes wine so. It’d be fun to taste more of this kinda thing. — 4 years ago
Crazy nose with herbs, spices and fruit skins. Flavors are softer and less rich, but funky fun. A strange but lovely thing. — 6 years ago
Patrick Arnould passed over 2009 & 2010, but decided to make this 2011- a strange decision on paper. This all old-vine Pinot blanc de noir has it where it counts- in the bottle. Only 60 bottles for the USA, now 59. This seems lighter than past vintages, but still has that Nutella like hazelnut character that screams Verzenay. I will wait a year or two to have my next bottle for sure... But this long wine sure did go down easy last night! — 7 years ago

‘Cool castle bro’ label. Deep red color. Smells like old books, dry cherries and unsweetened chocolate nibs. Flavors are strange with gun-smoke tea, fancy tonic water and berry pies. Plenty dry. Chewy. Complex. Winey, like a Winesap apple. It’s not raisin-y. It could have more depth and bite perhaps, but overall it’s very enjoyable. — 4 years ago
