Restrained blue-black fruit, velvety mouthfeel, lightly oaky and herbal. A delight — 3 months ago
Sweet vanillin, dried red fruits, still quite fresh and clean, medium-bodied, resolved tannins, but the bright acidity really carries this into a long, lingering finish, my wife’s favorite Bordeaux, alas only a few more bottles left in the cellar!! — 4 months ago
Opened the first night and not impressed, was closed but the following night it opened and morphed into a wonderful balanced wine with cocoa notes in the nose, full body and great finish. — 4 months ago
2019: sweet plum and spice box nose. Concentrated and powerful with robust tannins at this point. Medium long finish. I suspect this will be quite good in 3-5 years! — 5 months ago

Deep Ruby red color with aromas of ripe fruits with floral perfume and sweet earthy tones, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum fruits, with pepper spice notes. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, floral and earthy spice character. Good now, has short-term aging potential. — 9 months ago

Decanted for a hour. Elegant with soft tannins. A smokey blackberry is on the palate. Easy to drink. Drink now over the next 5 or so years. — 9 years ago
2/26 beautiful bottle. Soft with lots of earth and power. 90 — 3 months ago
Vintage 2016 | has gained refinement with more cellaryears — 4 months ago
High concentration. Full, balanced and beautiful of fig and baking spice. Silky tannins coat your tongue. Jammy fruit. Long finish. Light on the oak which I prefer. Low acidity. Enjoying with beef tenderloin. — 4 months ago
Beautiful, quintessential nose! Silky and balanced from start to finish. Not trying to be too bold but it doesn’t disappear either. Truly enjoyable Bordeaux and I would absolutely buy it again — 5 months ago
A lovely wine that is drinking very lovely right now. I personally like 14.5% wines vs the big jammy versions for their balance so this fits my tastes perfectly. Very glad I bought a futures case back in the day. Enjoy sooner rather than later. Cheers! — 7 months ago

Going back in time for this one. Let it sit a little and it opened right up. — 3 months ago
2016 vintage. 75 Merlot and 25 /Cabernet Franc).Owned by the Vauthier family (of Ausone fame),this is one of their cheaper offerings. The 2016 drinks well now. I like the rather restrained style of this wine, with its distinctive minerality. Don't expect a flashy "sweet" style, but more of an understated, gastronomic wine. Moreover, it doesn't break the bank. Abv. 13,5%. Even better the next day. — 4 months ago
2022 vintage. The Cuveliers are doing a great job here. Their Clos Fourtet might not be for everyone's wallet, but this should make you happy too. Another great 2022, and the best Côte de Baleau I have ever tasted. Black cherries, subtle oak, and flowers. Concentrated, with layers of ripe red and black fruit, embedded in a silky tannic structure with fresh balancing acidity. Highly recommended and terrific value. — 5 months ago
1990 vintage. Last tasted slightly over 3 years ago (8.7). Solid fill and cork. Not decanted. Tasted after two hours. A curious, fecal nose that never dissipated but nose didn’t invade the flavors that were earthy and spicy. This was immeasurably improved over the last encounter. Based on this visit, could go another 2-3 years at this level. 11.21.25. — 6 months ago
The nose is different. Much more woodsy and less fruit than I’d have imagined. The flavour profile was blackberry based and again, some wood. Some eucalyptus and green grass. Also some wet soil and cloves. The tannins weren’t a punch in the face by any means, but also haven’t haven’t completely softened as you might expect in a ten year-old. The palate was uninspiring as there was a watery-ness in the mid palate. I’m not sure whether this is over the hill or just not quite there yet and in a dumb phase? Will wait and see for the final two bottles. Solid, I guess. Not yet amazing. — 7 years ago

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Showing black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, chocolates, toast, licorice, spices, earth, tobacco and herbs.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious Merlot based blend from Bordeaux. Rich and extracted. Nicely balanced and complex.
This 16 year old is starting to drink at its peak now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.
Wine Advocate 96 points. Wine Spectator 96 points.
I've had the 2012 a few years ago, but this 2010 vintage is showing so much better.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, so be patient.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food.
A blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 17 months in French Oak barrels. Unfiltered and unfined.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
