Spicebox, leather, tobacco, raisin. Beautiful wine. — 8 years ago
Black Cherry, cedar, spicebox, decent tannins, but bright — 8 years ago
Quite woodsy upon opening. Some evolution in the translucent garnet core. Meaty nose, beefblood, stew, spicebox, gingerbread, dried cherry, but also prunes and dates. Soft and round on the palate. Again, that hint of evolution. Very leafy and floral, touch of alcoholic warmth in the back. There's good balance, but it's not an elegant wine. Fine. — 9 years ago
Dark fruits, spice, fruit tea and dry floral nose. Fruits are stewed. Black spiced plum, blackberries, black cherries, back palate of strawberries, dates, figs, spicebox, soft elegant minerals, dry floral bouquet, dry dark earth, anise, sweet leather, baking spices. An amazing complex blend with a ripe rich fruit finish. This is in a perfect place and a good example of why you want to cellar most of your Cabernet 10 + years. — 9 years ago
Little pre-fathers day libation. Big, bold, and beautiful. Weighty and chewy. Cherry, spicebox and pepper. Loaded with alcohol - comes in at 15.9%. You know it’s there but it’s not overpowering. The finish is long and full of vanilla and spice. I ❤️ @Turley Wine Cellars. — 7 years ago
Spicebox and cedar nose, dry but not overpowering. Spicy and rounded middle. Slight bit of red fruit with a LITTLE bright acidity on the back end, fading away to nothing. — 8 years ago
I love Daou. They are doing some amazing things and this is no exception. Also good example of what's coming out of Paso Robles. Blend of Syrah, Petit Syrah, Zin, and Tannat. This is a powerhouse, but won't be for everyone. Fruit-forward, this doesn't pull any punches, full of blackberry pie, spicebox, and pepper. Rich and mouthfilling. Stock up. Bought it on a whim today at Costco for $16. If you were to ask me if I'm going back to get more, I'd quote David Puddy. "All signs point to YES." — 8 years ago
This one has improved with time. Well integrated and silky smooth. The dusty cherry fruit had a cinnamon, nutmeg, spicebox accent along with a savory earthiness. — 8 years ago
Black cherry fruit, with ample spicebox, toasty oak, forest floor and deep, dark espresso flavors taking over mid-palate. Lush and concentrated. The velvety finish is generous, and the tannins provide great structure. Young, this needs some cellar time. A 15-yr wine. — 9 years ago
Damp earth, prunes and black cherries, antique cabinets, humidor, spicebox, dried herbs and a touch of manure. On the palate there is a luxury mouthfeel, horse stable, classic dryness, acidity and rusticity. Resolving tannines, completely a point. Somewhere halfway a Saint Estephe and a Cornas. Amazing QPR.
Even improves with air! Up a notch. — 9 years ago
Fruits are fresh and run juicy to dry. Black plum, blackberries, dark raspberries, bit of stewed strawberries, tannins are dusty/gritty, leather, spicebox, baking spices, dark powdery minerals, good acidity, balance and finish. Check it again in 8-10 years but good for 20 years. — 9 years ago
Beautiful colour... almost like an aged Bordeaux. Spicebox notes with silky tannin. A beautiful bottle. — 7 years ago
Took about an hr to open. Deep red crimson color. Bigger than regular Oregon Pinot. Presents almost like a cab but thinner. Cherries, prunes, a touch of spicebox. Smooth finish. A beautiful example of one Oregon's great larger wineries. — 7 years ago
Great find. Full of blackberries, plums (the ones that are red inside), spicebox, palm tree leaves, with a slight touch of Rutherford valley dust at the end but mostly full dark purple/red mountain body. Silky smooth and recommend a try. Vineyards are farmed by Jon-Mark Chappellet and it shows. — 8 years ago
Deep black core, ruby mid section, starting to show some autumnal browning in the edges.
First sniff is a little murky, soupy. But this blows away after aeration and then a very quiet, sophisticated, graceful bouquet is revealed, hinting at cigars, black olive, sundried tomato, spicebox, fatty Ibericoham, black cherries and plumpudding. Terrific concentration on the palate! Silky soft and smooooth, cinnamon, milk chocolate, leather, discrete notes of oak and garden herbs all coalesce into the very long, echoing finish. Did I already mention this has sheer perfect acidity? An androgynous wine, masculine and feminine at the same time. A home run in this so-so vintage. — 9 years ago

Chewy and jammy with lush plum, cinnamon, spicebox, and white pepper flavors. A little more fruit forward than previous versions, and arguably a bit extracted. but still enjoyable, still reliable. Should always be on hand as it’s always a crowd pleaser. — 7 years ago
