With Covid-19 and the country in extended lockdown, mass economic shutdown & unemployment, one has extra time to enjoy some extra bottles, explore their creative side & dabble in a third career.

You can now not only follow my notes but, also my wine inspired landscape design. Here are some of my first creations. Strong beginning huh? I think I have a bright future after this is all over.

The nose reveals; lemon chiffon/meringue, lemons, lime zest, green apple, just ripe pineapple, grapefruit, green melon, some slightly bruised golden apple, lychees, cream, vanillin, very light caramel, elegant, soft chalkiness, volcanics, sea fossils/spray, bread dough to baguette with yellow florals, spring flowers & jasmine.

The body is rich with beautiful mousse & excellent micro-oxygenation. lemon chiffon/meringue, lemons, lime zest, green apple, just ripe pineapple, grapefruit, green melon, some slightly bruised golden apple, lychees, white peach, cream, cream soda, vanillin, very more caramel, elegant, soft chalkiness, volcanics, sea fossils/spray, medium white spice (ginger)with just a touch of palate heat, bread dough to baguette with yellow florals, spring flowers & jasmine. The lively, delicate acidity is excellent. The rich, well polished & balanced finish delicious & even throughout with nice, delicate, palate penetrating white spice that persists minutes.

Happy President’s Day Weekend. 🇺🇸 I hope you all have the day off tomorrow and can enjoy an extra night of wine indulgence.

Every time I open a bottle of the Launois Veuve Clemence, all I can’t think about is, I still haven’t had a better Blanc de Blanc Champagne at this price point and many others at higher price points yet.

The nose is fantastic...Meyer lemon, lime, grapefruit, ripe pineapple, green melon, green apple, cream soda, lemon meringue, whiff of ginger, soft, understated white spice, sea shells & diary, baguette crust, light volcanic minerals with spring flowers, fruit blossoms and yellow lilies.

The palate is rich, reductive and so fresh. Micro beads with near perfect acidity. Meyer lemon, lime, little bit of orange with a touch of rind, grapefruit, ripe pineapple, green melon, green & golden apple, cream soda, honeysuckle, lemon meringue, caramel notes, whiff of ginger, soft, more pronounced white spice on the palate that really penetrates the palate, sea shells & spray, baguette crust, light volcanic minerals with spring flowers, fruit blossoms and yellow lilies. The finish is rich, elegant, beautifully balanced and persists for minutes.

Starting the long Labor Day weekend in Big Sur the right way with a little N/V Krug Grande Cuvée. @Nepenthe

Happy Labor Day weekend all! 🍾🥂

Noses reveals; heavy bruised red apple, Bosc pear, overripe pineapple, lemon meringue, tropical melons, lime zest, white spice, sea fossils, deep crisp chalkiness, grey volcanics, yeast & bread dough, nougat, baguette crust, limestone, caramel notes, cream, vanillin framed in yellow lilies, white & spring flowers & mixed greens.

The palate is, ripe, lush, fresh and lively. The mouthfeel all Krug beautiful. Bruised red & golden apple with hints of cider, Bosc pear, overripe pineapple, lemon meringue, tropical melons, white stone fruits, lime zest/candy, white spice, sea fossils, crisp chalkiness, grey volcanics, yeast & bread dough, nougat, baguette crust, limestone, caramel notes, cream, cream soda, vanillin framed in yellow lilies, spring flowers & mixed greens. The acidity is near perfect. The long, elegant, well knitted & balanced finish is gentle until the long set when you get a full presence of white spice and minerality that persists for minutes.

This bottle was composed around 2011 and is made from over 120 different wines that span over 10 years. It is 47% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay & 17% Pinot Meunier. — 5 years ago

The nose reveals; lemon custard to candy, lime zest, grapefruit, pineapple, green apple, light stone fruits, green melon, lychees, cream, vanillin, light ginger, cream soda, mixed nuts, bread dough to baguette crust, light green herbs, beautiful, powdery chalkiness, sea shell fossils, volcanic minerals, yellow lilies, jasmine with mixed greens.

The body is; full, round, rich and slightly creamy. Lemon custard to candy, lime zest, grapefruit, pineapple, green apple, light stone fruits, green melon, lychees, cream, beeswax, vanillin, light ginger, white spice with some palate heat, cream soda, touch of caramel, toffee notes, nougat, marzipan, mixed nuts, bread dough to baguette crust, light green herbs, beautiful, powdery chalkiness, sea shell fossils, volcanic minerals, yellow lilies, jasmine with mixed greens. The acidity is crisp and sharp. The long finish is; rich, polished, elegant, nicely balanced, delicious and persists endlessly. Very good at its price point.

This is extra good tonight. I was really very close to Soda Streaming that Wheeler Farms Rosé.

Quite delicious for its price point. I would say it slightly over delivers. Just misses 92.

Nice mousse, green apple, golden apple, lemon, lime zest, grapefruit, pineapple, guava, lychees, cream soda, bread dough, soft, moist chalkiness and powdery, soft chalkiness, jasmine, white spring flowers, nice acidity and a rich, polished and well balanced finish.

Good pair with our Brie and goats cheese.

Staring the night with cheese and bubbles. This may be the only really good Champange at $25 a 750ml and $50 a magnum. I would drink this over most sparking wines as most sparkling wines lack chalk for me.

Beautiful, bright lemon, lime, ripe pineapple, cream soda mousse, under ripe melon, orange, stone fruit, grapefruit with pith, touch of brioche, nice medium intensity volcanic mineral, round chalkiness, brilliant acidity and rich reductive finish.

Excellent QPR here.

On the nose; yellow lilies, lemon custard, lime, green apple, pineapple, sea spray, cream soda, touch of ginger ale, bread, yeast, brioche, soft minerals, cream & jasmine.

On the palate; green apple, pineapple, lemon custard, lime, cream soda, ginger ale, gritty volcanic minerals that really penetrate the palate, sea shells, cream, bruised golden apples, brioche, yeast, yellow lilies, jasmine, beautiful acidity and a long, rich, well polished finish.

Beautiful champagne...especially for the money. Cream soda, minerals and yellow florals on the nose. The palate is; lightly bruised green apple & Bosc pear, citrus, pineapple, cream soda, butterscotch, quince, baguette, fine bubbles, delicate fine chalkiness & mineralogy, enjoyable acidity & long, rich finish.
