55% new French oak really provides this wine with a lot of softness and flavor. Opens to a deep, rich and smoky mouthful. This is a chewy Pinot, packed with dark fruits, spice and well placed tannins. The lengthy finish will linger until the next sip. An extra few years of bottle age has treated this wine well. — 6 years ago
As advertised. Very complex. Wonderful nose of sweet perfume. Intense acidity and pleasantly astringent, chalky and very, very dry and clean. This one has some good legs and it’s deep and full. Not overpowering Slippery mouth feel and an intricate finish. Wonderfully extracted. Probably still needs more time. This is a wine to sip or enjoy with a great steak. — 7 years ago
First sip is like a shot of Jamison then it smooths out and is good. — 8 years ago

WOW!! One sip and you are hooked. Absolutely delicious. Ran and bought another!! — 9 years ago
Deep Ruby, pronounced fruit aromas, pepper spice and oak. On the palate ripe blackberry and plum flavors, powerful yet elegant, with cinnamon spice & smoky notes on full, tight tannins. Long finish, lively acidity, nice mouthfeel, ending with vanilla and earthy mineral tones, a joy to Sip!! Tasting Sample. — 5 years ago
Wax was hard to get off. Essentially scrapped it off. Before cork even came out I could start smelling the wine. I thought it would be corked. Cork melted off even with an ah so. First sip just had a little bit of funk but overall very drinkable. Much like a French Bordeaux. Fruit is muted, dry. Dark fruit finish. Smell definitely is dry and has an older funk, herbal, medicinal - not in a negative way. Would have loved to seen how it would have done decanted but had no time. — 6 years ago
The BV Tapestry doesn’t show its real self and value until it approaches 20 years. When you open these inside 10 years, it’s an average to very good wine depending on vintage. I’ve said it many times, you simply can’t get this kind of elegance and flat gorgeous complexity with any amount of decanting. You cannot fake or cheat long bottle evolution.
The one quality I get from this bottling at this age is Cognac with deep caramel flavors.
The nose reveals, dark currants, deep blackberries, dark liqueur cherries, baked, black plum, black raspberries, blueberries, baked rhubarb pie, poached strawberries, anise, heavily steeped tea, limestone minerals, dry, crushed, rock powder, sweet tarriness, soft leather, hints of graphite, dry twig, salted caramel, Cognac, herbaceous notes-bay leaf, dark, rich, turned earth, hints of mushroom, hints of; vanillin, clove, nutmeg, understated, medium, dark spice, saline, peppercorns, dark, red, fresh & withering florals with fields of violets and lavender. Floral heaven and then some!
The body is round & full. The mouthfeel is gorgeously sexy. The tannins are round, soft but, still show some teeth & tarriness. The structure, tension, length and balance are exquisite and still has at least 5 years of life ahead. It’s magnificently on the other side of its peak. Dark currants, deep blackberries, dark liqueur cherries, baked, black plum, black raspberries, blueberries, baked rhubarb pie with golden crust, poached strawberries, kirsch cherries, figs, prunes, dates, anise, heavily steeped tea, limestone minerals, dry, crushed, rock powder, sweet tarriness, soft leather, hints of graphite, dry twig, salted caramel, dark chocolate, Cognac, herbaceous notes-bay leaf, dark, rich, turned earth, hints of mushroom, hints of; vanillin, clove, nutmeg, understated, medium, deep, dark spice with shades of palate heat, saline, peppercorns, dark, red, fresh & withering florals with fields of violets and lavender. The acidity is flat out perfect. The long finish is; extremely well balanced fruit & earth, elegant, gorgeous, sexy, silky, ripe, lush, captivates the whole body, persists until you go to bed and even intrudes on your dreams.
While 94, no ordinary 94 with its age, complexity & beauty. It’s a WOW wine that rocks your mind, body & soul if you are deeply passionate about wine as I am. You want to slowly sip this all night.

The back of the label reads "what I dream of is an art of balance" and superior balance is what they have achieved. Nose is ripe and rich, with new aromas on every sip. Lemon curd on warm brioche, backing minerality and traces of vanilla & white florals. Palate shows laces of malo, adding a rich velvety aspect to the firm acidity and ripe fruit. Extremely savory and refreshing. Favorite CA chard. — 9 years ago
Drank over about an hour. This was my first foray into Mencia but I can tell you I will be back! Red fruits on the nose with some crushed stone and white pepper. A sip is peppery with Medium/medium+ acidity and alcohol and a lingering finish with mouth coating tannins — 5 years ago
Got it it from sprouts not bad to sip on. Made me very sleepy — 6 years ago
1995 vintage. Still deep purple red, subtle earthy leather aromas with a burst of fresh red raspberries mid palate. Lots of herbal hints like anise and tarragon. Finished with graphite and iron. Changed with each sip. Very nice mature and fully approachable left bank beauty. — 7 years ago
Full nose. Leather and fruit on sip. Full mouth feel. Incredible draw back. This wine deserves to be enjoyed and possibly bathed in. — 8 years ago
Great wine. Nice to sip or chug. Whatever u prefer. Mostly chug cuz I'm an alcoholic. Does anyone know where I can get help? — 9 years ago
Hello my friends. Tonight we are drinking Duckhorn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012. I suggest a 30 minute decant with this big boy. The cork was perfect. The bouquet is vanilla and pipe tobacco. The color is not the darkest cab Ive ever seen but darker than most. The initial palate is full of big dark black fruit. There is of coarse blackberry and dark currant. The finish is slightly disappointing with a light , not at all bold start finishing with a slightly sharp ending a good four seconds after the sip as usually seen with a very young wine. Then bam! Here comes the buttery explosion in mouth. It is not dry at all. The sharp finish is improved greatly with decanting and aerating. Ill buy it again when I want a wine I can sip on for three fourths of the bottle with no consequences! Im not sure about the alcohol percentage, but Im guessing about 12.5 maybe 13%. — 9 years ago

Rich and smooth, like the label states. Strong cherry notes. At first sip, it seems like it will be sweet but stops just short of that. Very nice. — 5 years ago
