Enjoyed with Christmas cheer...nice and uncomplicated smoothness. — 8 years ago
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, sweet raspberries, light vanilla, coffee, tobacco, green pepper, dirt, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Full bodied and rich, with medium plus acidity and great looking legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, bitter herbs, vegetables, asparagus, spices and peppercorn.
Medium finish with firm, angular tannins, bitter herbs and black pepper.
A great Spanish Monastrell. This silver label from Juan Gil, is great by itself, but better with BBQ Meats.
A little bitter on the finish and slightly unbalanced right now, but I really enjoyed it for its complexity. Still young, and needs another couple of years to come to its own.
100% Monastrell grapes from old vines, grown on limestone and rocky gravel, that produce low yields. Aged in mostly French oak barrels.

2007 vintage. Deep garnet color w hints of light brown; full bodied, satin mouthfeel. Blackfruit, bell pepper, cocoa, earth, leather notes. Balanced tannin, long soft finish. — 6 years ago
Really good. Hasn’t evolved much since we last tasted it. On the nose, notes of crisp green apples and green bell peppers. Palate is balanced and soft. Finishes with butterscotch and precise oak treatment. The is a poster child for understated chard. — 7 years ago
What you would expect from Silver Oak. On the nose, green bell pepper, mint, rose, and cherry. On the palate, sour cherry, strawberry, green bell pepper, medium plus tannins, but still very smooth. #lifeisacabernet #winelife #napavalleycabs #bigredwines — 10 years ago

1999 vintage. Opened with a Durand. Cork in great shape and approx 35% saturated. Not decanted. Tasted after one hour open. Wowza. Most excellent, full nose. Medium body + with great, full color. Sous bois, smoked meats, carmelized cranberry impressions running the savory festival currently in residence. Personally, could only wish for a touch more astringency/tannins but, otherwise, completely phenomenal. At the absolute apex/top of the bell curve now and for the next 5-7 years. Have had some decent Roty efforts over the years but this one takes the cake along with the accompanying plates and silver. Do cork dorks dream of electric red Burgundy? Hafta say "Yes." 2.27.26. — 2 months ago
