Enjoyed this--especially on day two. At turns like a Pauillac but then hits you with floral notes that add further complexity and elegance. Would love to stash a case of this to see it evolve. Great second wine. — 8 years ago
Second bottle of 78 I've had this year. The fruit is still present but soft, this wine has surprisingly held up beautifully and is drinking very well. — 9 years ago
Funny enough I am not sure how many know that Clos the Marquis is a second wine, it became known on its own merit and considered a solid chateau from Saint Julien. But it is the second wine of what is considered by many as a second grand Cru that need to move up to the first league- chateau Leoville las cases.
2006 was not a great vintage, but a classy one, which start to be ready for drinking, the wine has a deep red color, a very elegant nose and a charming sexy full body. Nose is full of black current, cedar wood, plum, coffee, chocolate and some herbs, body is full round and elegant with well intigrated tannins and lovely acidity. Finish is long luxurious and inviting a second glass. My score 90, Drink 2014-2022, perhaps longer — 10 years ago
The second LLC1992 in one month, again a great effort and I think the best 1992. Fantastic concentration and ripe green impressions — 12 years ago
Dark ruby red in the glass. Very aromatic with black cherry, crème de cassis, licorice, vanilla extract, and hints of graphite. Dense, concentrated fruit on the palate with a bit of the Rutherford dust on the back end. A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, this is the second wine produced from the J.J. Cohn estate after Scarecrow. Although still in its infancy, it was a pleasure with Wagyu Steak Frites. 14.9% alcohol. $190. — 8 years ago
This is the most picturesque Chateau in Bordeaux. Oh...and they make a pretty amazing Bordeaux. It's a good first look at the 03 vintage from my five bottle set. There are steak wines and then there are steak wines. This was a 10 pair with the T-bone...Heaven. The tannins have softened but have many years ahead to get to that perfect place. The mouthfeel is full, round, creamy and elegant. The fruits have a not too sweet liqueur style. They are; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, plum, sweet tobacco leaf, anise, used leather, black tea, used coffee grounds, rich wet black turned earth, stones, dry red florals, spice; clove, nutmeg, baking spices; very light vanilla, touch of caramel, dark chocolate and acidity that pours over the palate. There is the start of harmony in the structure, length, balance and tension. The finish lasts a full two-minutes and it crushed with the T-bone. Next bottle in 5-7 years. For the legions of you on Delectable crushing only young Napa Cabernet, you have no idea what you're missing in aged Bordeaux...forget about it...even vs. well aged Napa Cabernet. Respect!!! 3-4 hour decant and it needed every second of it. — 8 years ago
Silky smooth. Second label is very nice. Not over done just lets the fruit do its thang! — 10 years ago
This is the second time I've had this wine and I'm more satisfied with it this time than last time. Beautiful nose and wonderful flavor. — 10 years ago
Very dry with dense berry and soft minerals, great overall balance with classic Pauillac taste (second wine of Chateau Lynch-Bages). 93 — 11 years ago
Nice wine. Drank it on the second day. Still had a lot of character to it. — 8 years ago
WOTN vs a blockbuster line-up at Cafe Baloud in West Palm Beach on 4/28. Loads of power and concentration but it's a standout for it's plush balance, sexy freshness and astounding vibrancy. This is a 27 year old wine but the fruit is still a centerpiece of this wine and it makes you take notice. Elegant tannic structure with warming fig, expresso and cassis flavors that fill your mouth with hedonistic pleasure. The second '90 Latour @Martin G Rivard pulled out that weekend. — 8 years ago
I initially had this rated lower trying to handicap it for being a 2013, served blind this would be hard to pick out as a second wine. Did Claud mix up the barrels? That's a joke by the way. Firing on all cylinders, restrained fruit, rich tannins and an acid balance, delivers from the bouquet on the nose to the finish. — 9 years ago
Surprised ,worked well with pasta, great backbone...dry but still intense/jammy — 10 years ago
Still my favorite of the 85 Bordeaux wines. Perfectly integrated tannins, the perfume of this wine is second to none! — 11 years ago
