Day 1: Not a better value in aged wine. Period. Green apple, slate, slate, slate and petrol intermingled with smoke and leather. Stunning nose. A bit tight out of the gates but uncoils over 30 minutes and become a symphony of aromas and a typical '96 Mosel with high acid, candied apple, almost apple-tini flavors. Lovely depth and purity. Remarkable wine.
Day 2: Nose is all candied apple/jellybaby with lovely slate and petrol. Almost a foie element as well. That smoke persists as well. Palate has terrific freshness and acids today with deep green apple fruit and a hint of sweetness. — 10 years ago

Quite fragrant of stone fruit. The taste however started with quite a bit of seeetness than followed with an intense l min flavor mixed with peaches ... peachy lemons is the best way I can describe it. A little too sweet for my taste, but quite a surprising mix of flavors that I found it quite enjoyable.

Pretty bottle and amazing taste. Very light — 12 years ago
Stunning. Beautiful bottle development, nice tension between acid and fruit. Good depth and excellent length. Will certainly go the long haul. — 13 years ago
An aged Riesling. Golden color, clear. nose: gasoline/petrol notes, citrus, lime, lemon and ripe yellow apples and tangerine and honey. Palate: off dry, high acid, medium to low alcohol same notes as nose and but bit more honey suckle and small notes of noble rot. Finish: M+ to long. Excellent aged Riesling — 6 years ago
Great acid and sweetness level; lacking complexity but definitely solid — 7 years ago

From Ernie's private cellar! He makes one barrel a year only for personal consumption and lays them down for 25 years. This '90 Graacher Himmelreich is the current release and must be the best Sekt in Germany. I think it would give some top Champagnes a run for their money in a blind tasting. #notmessingaround — 11 years ago

Superb. drink NOW. (Already showing minutest first signs of age). Outstanding Riesling. — 12 years ago

Wow so good. Nose has buttered plums and flowers turned up to 11. Incredible density for kabinett, and long. So good already but tertiary qualities just starting to peek out. Two more years this will be even better. — 5 years ago
