Rusty red color. Swirling released dried flower, mulch, black cherry and leather notes. Mushroom, floral and red fruits with silky tannins in the palate. Stunning old world Bordeaux. — 5 years ago
Really enjoyed this! Much richer in mouthfeel than some of the other vintages and vineyards (Horseshoe, Bearwallow). — 6 years ago
Cinque Terre means five lands. Yellow with gold hue, lemon and tangerine peel, crushed rock, wet stone and rusty blade. On the palate: slightly flint, high acidity, apricots, lemon curd, yellow bouquet floral note, silky texture with smooth coating in the mouth. Say 12.5 % abv on the label but feel more in the mouth. Min 40% Bosco with Max 40% Albarola/Vermentino combined. — 7 years ago
Beautiful aged smell, bright molasses but old winey, very good, strong, color rusty magenta, wet big comes on so strong so pungent, 2005 seems good now — 7 years ago
The 2006 Rusty Shed Chardonnay is a blend of four blocks of Chardonnay on the Flat Rock Property. Grapes are hand picked and hand sorted before whole bunch pressing takes place. It was then cold settled in stainless steel, 100% barrel fermented and left on the lees for 10 months. Wild and commercial yeasts were used for primary fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation to soften the natural acidity. The result?
Beautiful example of a mid to full bodied Chardonnay with butter, vanilla, apples and light spice on the palate. A lot of flavour and elegance at this price point. Sampled this 2006 in 2017 but this should sit well and perhaps develop more for a few more years. Best part? It's from Niagara! Loved it!

Lovely purity of berry compote along with an underlying ferrous, rusty nail type iron mineral character. With time in the glass there’s also some very attractive almond paste or pie crust notes, dried cranberry and yoghurt covered raisins.
In the mouth it’s incredibly approachable with fine grained tannins that are very well interpreted into the red currant and cranberry fruit. It’s refreshing, approachable and very food friendly as the acidity seems to be perfectly ripe in this vintage. Don’t think I’ve tasted a better vintage of this in the past 5 years or so. As with most Italians, food will elevate this. 👌🏽 — 5 years ago
Nose:
Cranberry
Bright red fruit
Tart
Cured meat/bresaola
Leaves, mushroom, moss
Forrest floor
Iron character (rusty nails) – from Tuscany
Palate:
Dry wine
Mouth-watering acidity
Tart red fruits
Forrest floor
Oregano, tomato, sage – like herbs, tomato sauce
Balance between tannin and acidity
Imagining it with veal chop, fat to deal with acid/tannin
Leathery notes. — 5 years ago
Vibrant rusty-red colour, slightly brown on the ridges from aging. Pronounced legs. Intense nose of dark cherries and dried plum with chocolate and wood. Medium acidity, strong yet smooth tannins, dark cherries, big mouth-feel and long-lasting finish, fantastic wine! — 7 years ago
Like the end of summer. Warm dried figs and ripe. strawberries. So so good. — 8 years ago
I gave instructions to get the 2013 Rhys Horseshoe Syrah, but this is what came up. Oh well. A lovely bottle. The nose is intoxicating: blackberry crisp, bramble, cola, soft olive, and fantastic salinity. On the palate, good acid, but maybe a touch softer than I would like. More cola, blackberry, soft olive. Good density, but perhaps thins out a little quickly. On the finish, the tannins are fine, but have a slightly pasty air. Very nice. Probably could have waited longer, but this is drinking well now. — 5 years ago
Earthy nose, raspberries, sour cherries. Medium body. Rusty, iron taste, good acidity, hint of mint? Very dry end, with noticeable tannins and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Tasty and complex. — 5 years ago
Herbal and still rather tannic and youthful. Leather, mushroom, tobacco, thyme, rosemary, dusted plum. Some redder tones emerge from the black fruit core - strawberry even. A pleasant rusty patina with some gentle, welcome bitterness on the finish. — 7 years ago
A nice Rusty Garnett with nice rim variation.
The nose tells me there's some candied cherry strawberry, potpourri, anise and tar.
The pallatte stays a little lighter than other nebbiolos(true to style-the drink of Queens) but to truly enjoy, enjoy some food with it and decant this thing-the tannins are not joking around. A lovely wine. — 8 years ago

Have generally preferred the Horseshoe vineyard in past years but the ‘17 Bearwallow is amazing! — 4 years ago
