First wine of 2020 — 5 years ago
Loved this South African blend (64% Shiraz, 15% Mourvèdre, 9% Petite Sirah, 9% Grenache, 3% Tannat). At 12 years old, this was drinking perfectly. Dark and concentrated in the glass, the nose was full on baking spices. The palate delivered bold dark red fruit, in a silky texture.
Our neighbors have a home in South Africa and are introducing us to some local wines that are delicious but sadly hard to find in the US - if anyone knows where to find this please drop me a line in the comments! This would be a superb every day drinker. — 7 years ago
Very hot on the nose. cinnamon and caramel. Cut with a few drops of water and richness comes through. Amazingly long finish. Top notch. — 7 years ago
You can tell this is a quintessential Bordeaux from a mile away. A solid backbone of fruit quickly gives way to tons of funky music - mushroom, olive, wet earth, and awesomeness. Medium-bodied; smooth. The finish is long, loamy, and mouth-puckering. A sleeper - this is seriously underrated. You can find it for around $20. Just got it at Costco. Stock up. — 8 years ago
Low yield production that’s hard to come by. For anyone that’s visited laughing stock you can appreciate this wine with the unique process of fermentation. Vibrant aromas and deep rich color with a silky palate. Last bottle 😞 — 5 years ago
The 2018 is out! The 2018 is out! On the downside, the price went up $5 to $25. On the plus side this is the best in several vintages so stock up! Lots of lush cherry fruit backed up by tar, mushroom, and leather. Just fantastic. As an aside, this is one of my favorite go-to wines and one of the best values out there each year hands down. But the low ratings just baffle me. Rate the wine quality my friends, not whether the wine is your thing. — 5 years ago
Spectacular. The first truly great rye I've had. Balance, mouthfeel, complex aromatics and a solid finish. I'd prefer more heat, but that's just me. — 6 years ago

Brb...En Route to buy another bottle of this — 5 years ago
Lovely in the glass. Red with a blush of plum. Nose is very interesting. Hint of funk. Zinjammy, and smoky. Little bit of mineral oil or linseed oil. Flavor is spectacular. Pure fruit. Tastes very true to the varietal. Pretty tart. Plenty of tannin too. For an under $10 Coastal style Zin, this is a steal. — 6 years ago
Like this one. A St Emilion. Smooth and fruity. Rapport Qualité prix is great. I will stock up — 6 years ago
As a half Virginian, I try to stock up every vintage of the octagon, not only because of being the home pride, but also her quality year after year. This one is no exception. Color is different shades of purple, with mix of deep ruby. Nose is densely fragrant, with ripe cherry, sugarplum, dill and clove, nutty oaks, aldehyde, and some more dried strawberries. Taste shows another layer of complexity with tobacco leaves, milk chocolate, and some residual sweetness and subtle acidity. Oaky note follows. Tannins however is marginal. Aftertaste is some more chocolate with a bit mineral, and some more juicy grape sweetness with some touch of peppery flavors and acidity. I will not keep the vintage for long as she is quite peaked at the moment. — 7 years ago
Oh how beautiful and spicy. Cherry, dark cherry, red plum, black pepper and spice from oak. Medium body, med+ acidity. — 8 years ago
Fresh lemon followed by candied apple and hints of spice. A very delicious and refreshing wine! — 8 years ago

A couple of wines to celebrate our anniversary.
The nose alone was intoxicating. Dark plush berries abound. Gave it about 3 hours of air. It was ready to go. — 5 years ago
