medium reddish violet; earth, black cherry, cranberry, black tea, and spice; medium body, nice acid backbone, light tannins, 14.1% ABV; aged 18 months in new French oak barrels; $60 — 4 years ago
Cherry, with a slightly dank, earthy, mushroom side. Acidity is right where I like it. Drinking so well! Recommended by my favorite somm ;) — 5 years ago
13.7% alc.
7 barrels made. $90/btl.

2007. Max's work party. Incredible. Let it breathe. "Better than Ridge". — 3 years ago
I thought this was a fantastic wine. Really enjoyed from start to smooth finish. Highly recommend. — 3 years ago
Never tried this, and wifey recoiled after her first sip, as did I. Nose displays beeswax and spring notes. Palate is oily and viscous, with minimal acidity. Huge dollop of oak complement big layers and complexity. Overtones of maple syrup combine with a quite pronounced oak treatment. I consider this quite unusual and quirky, in a very good way. Excellent example of chard. 94 pts, easily... — 4 years ago
By far my favorite HD bottle to date!! — 6 years ago
Explosive Howell Mountain juice. Make no mistake this wine is big and warrants respect. Dark chocolate and cherries on the nose. Even the smallest sip fils the mouth. Incredible structure and big tannins. Inky, dark and mysterious at times....as it sits and opens up this gets bigger and richer. Just brilliant. — 7 years ago
Roberts Road is top tier. The nose is like a bowl of fresh strawberries. It's medium body and long finish. Paired well with rotisserie chicken. — 9 years ago
Small group for this month's WTF wine meet up, so why not hit up Fort Worth's best BYOB?
I didn't know AR made a cab, but I am very much happy to have found out they did. What a lovely change up from the fruit bombs out of Napa. This could pass for a young high quality Bordeaux producer. No leather notes, but I wasn't hit in the face with every fruit on the color spectrum. Decadent blackberries wrapped in clove, and rhubarb pie. Beautiful texture on the palate. Plums, and black licorice in the mid palate but the finish has a sweet french bread, black cherry cola note. Thanks Jose! — 7 years ago
Duncan saved the best for last at his arlequin wine merchant tasting. Tasting through the new chards and pinots, I wondered about how these wines age because they sure seemed tight and the Pinot was even tannic. This 2009 Syrah, however, was wonderful and open, showing all sorts of dark berries, pine, mint, forest-y character, and nice felty tannins. I'd decide to wait on the others, too! — 9 years ago

Liked it but maybe a touch overpriced but might be splitting hairs there. I’ve def paid more for bottles I’ve hated. — 3 years ago
