Big, brawny, and more than a bit beefy. Dark purple with a nose of old cigars, bacon grease, and vanilla. Big ol' palate of smoked meat and white pepper. Tons of smoke, along with some dried herbs, and funky dirt. Not a lot of fruit here but you'll discover plums and black cherries eventually. The 15.5% puts out quite a bit of heat. Maybe too much heat. As tasty as this is, I'm not really getting Syrah so much. In the long run that doesn't matter because you should probably drink this. β 8 years ago

A real treat to see a 34 year old Italian beauty. Dried herb and fruit. Earthy, dark dried fruits. Soft soft tannin with rounded acid. Lost its vibrancy and that bang that sucks you in. Admirable it has held up and a beautiful experience. 89 points. β 10 years ago

Such an intense inviting nose and sexy opulent palate. Iβve been on a roll lately with excellent Sangiovese based wines (this is 100%), but this ranks high across the board, and still not close to fully mature. Herbs and spices, leather, ripe rich red fruits, silky tannins, buoyant acidity. Nothing NOT to like here, especially when paired with a pork osso bucco. β 7 years ago
