Deep Ruby in colour. Cherry, red fruits generally, stems and a Jujube confectionery note. Intense red fruits on the medium bodied palate. Lovely texture and mouthfeel - sweetish. So obviously delicious it is difficult to look beyond anything else. From Australia’s most southerly vineyard in the Huon Valley south of Hobart. Visited there a few years ago with the family and had a lovely lunch. This wine won the Trophy for Best Pinot Noir at the Australian Cool Climate Wine Show in 2014 - and one can see why. — 6 years ago
This nose is big, and wafty.
Cinnamon and Blackberry, wrapped in freshly risen yeast.
A hint of a sweet, yet in a pie spice way, blackberry twigs and branches, touches of fireplace, and a harmonious relationship between the oak, and long live the acid!
Central Otago are my favorite Pinot’s as well as Tasmania. Perfect climate. — 6 years ago
A lovely aromatic perfume showing cherry and some stemmy characters but more fruit driven than gamey earthy notes. A medium + intensity palate - supple and smooth. Not built for extended cellaring. A delicious wine and since 2012 has put Tasmanian Pinot on the International stage being a favourite of Jancis Robinson. Owned by Shaw and Smith and vinified in the Adelaide Hills would you believe. I was talking to the Tolpuddle viticulturist in Launceston last Saturday who said it takes only 24 hours for the grapes to get from the Coal River in Tasmania in refrigerated containers, by truck and ship to the winery in Adelaide Hills South Australia. They have found the cooling of the grapes has added to the quality of the wine. Suckling has just given the 2017 vintage 99 points - Good Luck getting a bottle when it is released in mid September!! Drank my last bottle 45 weeks later on 13th June 2019 and it was amazing. At its peak. Perfect balance of whole bunch influence, restrained oak and savoury red fruits. An annual purchase for me and 96 points on this latest tasting. — 7 years ago

Colour: Slightly transparency, ruby-violet
Nose: Interesting and opulent and rich bouquet of spices: roasted meat with tones of rosemary, sage, time – extremely aromatic and spicy overall. Secondly comes fruit note (strawberry, cherries), wood spices. It's quite meaty to the nose, still refined nevertheless.
Palate: Light and pleasant, smooth in tannins, not too acid but still lovely to drink. Subtle and sexy, slightly warmer in the finish. Supple, mellow wine – with a refined and clear character.

Quite pale Lemon considering its age. Funky solids musty aromas. Medium bodied medium acid with grapefruit notes on palate and reasonable length. A good Chardonnay from this premium Adelaide Hills producer. From cousins Shaw and Smith - Michael Hill-Smith was Australia’s first Master of Wine. Have spread their wings to Tasmania with the premium Tolpuddle. — 6 years ago

hitting up Tasmania (one of sparkling wine's greatest secrets) for #Easter bubbly - Pirie Sparkling NV, toasty complexity with bright, crackly acidity you'd expect of the coolTasmanian climate - Go #Australia — 8 years ago

Love this sparkling wine. We had it at our wedding in 2003. It is difficult to get in the US now. I picked this one up in Tasmania at the winery a few years ago and it is complex, well blended, depth of flavor, some toasted nuts in the nose, and flavor, a bit of smoke. Went very well with sushi appetizer and had enough body, depth, and interest for the full New Years evening meal. Wonderful way to celebrate the new year. Will be 14 years of wedded bliss this may — 9 years ago
Fruit forward nose of green apple, lemon zest, grapefruit and some slight yeasty tones and oak influence. Citrus palate, good to go — 10 years ago
2007 - already 13 years old under screw cap. Delightful aged Riesling. Still retains beautiful perfume and acid. — 5 years ago
Herbal aromas (typically Margaret River) with Geranium Capsicum and a touch of menthol. Some green notes - medium weight. Savoury wins out over Cassis and black fruits. Not in the upper echelon of Margaret River Cabernet. Just a silver medal. We went to the Cellar Door some years ago and the story goes that the Reserve Cab was served at the wedding of Prince Frederick of Denmark to Sydney Real Estate agent Mary Donaldson originally from Tasmania now Crown Princess Mary and one day will become the Queen of Denmark. Fred is a keen sailor who was representing Denmark at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and they met at Sydney hotspot The Slip Inn where Fred was flashing his Black AMEX so the story goes and was captivated by Mary and the rest is history. — 6 years ago
Lots of fruit but body and complexity — 7 years ago
One wouldn’t think of Australia when looking for a fine Pinot noir. One also wouldn’t think it comes from one of the coldest environments for Pinot noir but Tasmania is far south off the coast of Australia. This tastes like it could come from New Zealand. Very distinct and very fine. — 7 years ago
A very good #aussiechardonnay drinking at its peak at 10 years. Fruit sourced from cool climate regions - Tasmania and Tumbarumba. All parts have come together - if not a trifle oaky. — 10 years ago
