Sherry on the nose. The taste is very rough and hard to describe. Start line sherry with dryness and nuts, go on to some kind of animal and farmyard when it peaks a bit too much. Then it turns into paint and some kind of nice chemical notes. Rubbernotes and taste of horse.. Very different tastes and rough. 2001 vintage — 7 years ago
Honey, apricot, clean, the muscat flavor is amazing — 8 years ago
Sourced primarily from hillside terraces of Poetry and Twin Peaks Vineyards. Dark deep red with complex aromas of black fruit, earthy spice and sweet notes. Composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 3% Merlot, the palate shows fruit forward rich dark berry flavors with notes of licorice and cacao, approachable tannins, well balanced. Lingering finish ends with earthy tones. Can age well for another decade. — 8 years ago
One of the more complex zins you're likely to taste, bramble dark fruits with a hint of cocoa. — 9 years ago
I had this as part of my club shipment but hadn't gotten around to opening it right away. What a pleasant surprise it was when I finally got around to it. My wife used the aerator and I did not but after a little time sitting open it was just as good without. The first thing you will notice is the deep rich color that's so good you think you should be able us it for a royal gown. I love a jammy and intense wine. I wasn't disappointed. Now I have to get more before they sell out. — 10 years ago
Grapefruit forward and low sweetness. Jalapeño and a fair amount of minerality. Perfect for 100° days. Edit: pairs nicely with a red Otter Pop — 10 years ago

What a killer balance of opposites on the nose: a wave of bright, ripe berries is followed by an aged, black-fruit-forward note that kinda reminds me of Rioja reserva! An elegant cologne-scent peaks out behind waves of fresh fruit. On the palate, that subtle interplay continues. I love the amount of leather, cologne, and cigar box I get on this fresh, new-world delicacy! Magic! — 7 years ago
Mas de Boislauzon has been my go to wine when I'm craving for a glass of full bodied, contemporary styled, affordable CdP. Although I think it usually peaks at around 5-7 years, it is more than drinkable young. Fruit forward without being overly jammy. Blackberry, pine tree, oak on the nose. Full bodied with medium to high tannins on the palate. Some floral notes on the finish, perhaps violet. Perfect wine for the upcoming holiday season. — 8 years ago
Lots of fresh raspberry on the nose when opened and then turned into softer mesmerizing dried fruit, mushroom and chocolate. High acidity on the palate, medium body with quite some tannin in the background covered by this fresh fruit and acidity. It is approachable now and certainly has a couple of years before it peaks. — 9 years ago
I've had enough of uh, morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells, and you, chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you've had enough of me?" -Albert Rosenfield, Twin Peaks. I will never have enough of you Clos Ro. #heartandsoul #iwillmissyou #naturalwine

1961 Laurent Perrier Cuvée Grand Siècle ... Nelson Mandela is acquitted of Treason after a 4 & 1/2 yr trial. "Are you Lonesome Tonight?" By Elvis Presley peaks to #1. Walt Disney's 101 Dalmations is released... & some lovely souls were Harvesting these Grapes. 1961. :) ❤️🍷 — 11 years ago
Pretty killer. Tons of concentration, raspberry, beautifully integrated fruit, balanced, roasted coffee on the back of the palate. Maybe a couple of years left till it peaks. — 12 years ago

A Merlot that drinks like a Cabernet. Medium bodied with hints of vanilla, leather, and tart cherries. — 7 years ago
Bought a bottle at the Peaks of Otter Lodge off the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA. It was crisp and refreshing without being too sweet or dry. Perfect wine and eager to buy another bottle. — 8 years ago
Baby killing. 2 - 3 hours of decanting necessary. Not super expressive on the nose, but somewhere between toffee and petrol. Mouth is dominated by pineapple-like acidity and a luxurious lush viscosity. Alcohol peaks through at the end, which makes me think it needs another couple of years. — 8 years ago
Pretty impressive for a third wine, "Pauillac" is a relatively new wine for Bordeaux from Chateau Latour. From what I read 1990 may have been the first vintage.
I was not surprised of its character based on being a 2009, but based off of the 2006 and 2008 of this same wine I had low expectations. I have tasted this twice in the past and it was pretty good, but young and tight. This is young and while well structured, it's open for business and plenty enjoyable. The nose is really fragrant and persistent, within 2 feet of the glass you can smell it's charms. Red currants, black cherry, cassis, some violets floral essence that peaks as pure Cabernet. Secondary notes of toast and coffee act like a shadow to the fruit. Texturally this is great, density of flavor without weight, with firm and dusty tannin. A long finish on the palate adds good acidity and some minerality.
Will this get better? If you like your wines with some youthful exuberance this is right where you want it. But if you want to see it mature this should easily go another 10-12.
This then likely makes 2010 worth a look too.
Which brings us to price and value. It can be an odd wine for the normal price as it's not usually a good value, mostly because you can get first wines from other classified Chateau for the same or in some cases materially less.
I got this for a decent price at a big retailer sale event. Would I pay 90 as its priced now? No, absolutely not but I would take it for $60 or better.
But again we are talking cache and Latour, to me the greatest of the 1st Growth Bordeaux wines. — 9 years ago
Peaks and valleys of varying levels of complexity. Dark fruit, rocks, pie spice, furry teeth, and a linear acidity. Lingering finish. This is a baby and I can only imagine how good this'll be when it hits manhood. — 9 years ago
This wine is deep and dark. The inky indigo color telegraphs the nose, exploding with blue and black berries and cassis, a whiff of campfire smoke and a mountain of prehistoric terroir. The palate is laden with dark fruit, too, not to mention spice and earth. The sage and rosemary linger into a finish that won't let you forget them. The tannic structure is fit for meat and aging while the acidity refreshes and causes the mouth to water. Beautiful work, Mike Sinor. — 10 years ago
This 2003 Pinot Noir which is from Vampire Vineyards is spectacular in both color and flavor; It also has quite a beautiful level of clarity; Its nose makes quite a clear and profound statement about the spices that have been used in its making. My last statement speaks to this wine's wonderful balance of acidity to tannins which are clearly revealed in its peaks — 11 years ago
A very rich Chardonnay on the nose ripe tropical fruit Monteverro is the name of the area. Great terroir volcanic eroded soils with clay. They wanted to make the coche dury of Tuscany vanilla creme a hint of butterscotch clay retains water very well and is like a sponge all the Chardonnay planted at the bottom of the hill with the clay soils. Very rich bouquet limestone changes the ph they transfer the wines in stainless to preserve the freshness to keep the acid. Very creamy on the palate very rich and well endowed vanilla spice and wonderful fruit tropical with great freshness and balance very long finish 45+ most excellent only 150 cases produced this is the second vintage of Chardonnay. The average temperature is higher in the maremma but they do not have the peaks — 12 years ago
