Birthday bottle for Marty
Acid forward, limestone, good terroir
Smells like a town square in Burgundy, like limestone fountain and chalk — 7 years ago
Mint, dried flowers, dried herbs. Good amount of tannins and acidity for a light bodied wine. Some mineral notes on the finish. — 8 years ago
Lovely Pommard, balanced & elegant, dusty red berry fruit, fine tannins, great to see a Pommard approachable when young. — 8 years ago
Brambly fruit, exotic spice and stemmy herbaceous additions, this complex, fresh and seriously structured and youthfully unevolved red is clearly built for the long run. A tarry, earthy layer on the lengthy finish creates sincere interest which separates it from nearly all other wines within Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Love it! 96+ p. — 9 years ago
What a Grand Olde Horse this must-have was: even on the down-stroke it was throwing up layers & notions & gems. Cranberries then cherries & al soft, soft, soft. Lovely, this. — 5 years ago
Pinot from France. Earthy, light and delicious. — 6 years ago
Green apple, citrus, brioche, clean finish with a mineral linger — 8 years ago
Magnum 1996 Launois Pere et Fils Special Club Brut Blanc de Blancs champagne. Dinner at Tap w S&L DiM and P&S Co. Crisp, light, nice density of bubbles, slightly creamy finish. Solid. — 9 years ago
What started out as a a typical P. Usseglio bottle, with its rich and heavy fruit and somewhat voluptuous texture/concentration, actually became a stunning exemplar of goût de terroir. Of course ripe and soaked black/blue fruit, but all equally balanced by lavender pastille, violet, warm spices, baked stones, singed iron, grilled grapefruit, and anise. Not always the biggest fan of these, but this was welcomed and pleasant surprise! — 5 years ago
A real treat so delicious and ready to drink great Q/P — 5 years ago
Brioche, macadamia, citrus curd. Understated and taut, as the best Pernand whites have to be. This will be even more special in 5-6 years. — 6 years ago
Still so fresh! — 8 years ago
