Tor Kenward specialized in single vineyard CS from a few top sites, but the “Napa Valley” bottling is a blend of all the vineyards he works with. For 2014 the juice is predominantly from Melanson vineyard from Pritchard Hill, home to some of the most exquisite CS bottles in all of Napa - Chappellet, Bryant Family, Colgin, and Ovid.
Rich in black fruits but laced with red fruit freshness and elements of dusty earth, herbs, chocolate, and raisin. Luxurious mouthfeel. Broad yet precise. A refined beauty. — 8 years ago
Great value, some of the more expressive fruit notes that I've had out of a Finger Lakes Riesling — 9 years ago
Last of the weekend Ovids and exactly what I was referring to in other posts. The Experiment reds are generally fantastic. Bold and rich and unique. @Matt Duncan these last two wines are what makes Ovid special. — 5 years ago

Lush and approachable despite the ABV. — 6 years ago

Thank you, Ovid , for another spectacular experiment. And this one now with 10!years of age. Velvety. But with power. — 9 years ago
Andy Erickson's history is hard to beat...Harlan, Staglin, Hartwell, Ovid, Dalla Valle and some place called Screaming Eagle. This one, while not the same notoriety as the others, still shows Mr Erickson's ability to blend an amazing wine. Not overly complicated, but great overall food wine. — 9 years ago
What a vintage on Pritchard Hill! This is THE go to in this zip code (way under The neighbors are Ovid & Colgin. I can’t believe this is 7 years from vintage - it’s still very young with lots of currant and blueberry with mocha. Tannins kick in in the mid palate and a lengthy finish. With a rack of lamb - proof God loves us! — 5 years ago

Needed something to ease the pain of leaving Napa tomorrow. Some extraordinary sites, exceptional wines, and even better people...

This is 2019 Ovid Experiment W6.9.
I have really been looking forward to trying this one (my first Ovid white!), and this gorgeous sunny day presented me ample time to sit on the patio and contemplate it! Bright tropical notes on the nose. But I think the real beauty is the texture. It’s like a flower blossoming on your tongue. The floral bouquet of the Rhone varietals makes a strong appearance mid palate. — 5 years ago
