10/22/16 from House Wine Bar Harbor Maine. Drank while standing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean watching the stars (land bridge to Bar Island-11:10 low tide) — 10 years ago
Lemon, acid, and chalky minerals punch you in the mouth, yet linger for unexpected lengths in this Grecian wine, which reminds of the ocean. Easily teamed with scallops, but I sipped so I could savor on its own. Definitely worth adding to your collection. — 10 years ago
The wine is a pale tawny gold color with complex and appealing bruised apple, chamomile, hazelnut, ocean spray, and nuanced floral aromas. On the palate it's between light and medium-bodied, dry, fresh and intense with a supple texture and bruised apple, citrus, saline flavors with nuanced mineral and iodine notes. Long finish 15% abv
La Guita En Rama, produced by Bodegas Rainera Pérez Marín is the "raw", just very lightly filtered version of the Manzanilla La Guita. It is a selection of butts from the best soleras in both of the house bodegas: Misericordia and Pago Sanlúcar Viejo. The label of this first release en rama – bottled in October 2015 – shows the famous entrance door of the old Hospital de la Santa Misericordia, the 16th century building now filled with casks of La Guita — 10 years ago

First pour in the new house. Antique collection. Rye whiskey doesn't get any better than this. Handy is a third the age and still takes Antique Sazerac behind the woodshed all day long. — 11 years ago
Love this wine. Rich and full, wonderful with grilled steak and arugula salad. — 12 years ago

Nice dry semi sweet. House wine from snucks — 13 years ago
Nabbed this from the wonderful wine cellar at the Waterwheel Restaurant at the Inn at Gristmill Square in Warm Springs, VA. A hidden gem of a place with a hidden gem of a wine collection.
It took a while to open up even after decanting, but when it did, the bouquet was elegant yet strong. Pomogranate and earth throughout! Heavenly with the house made bolognese — 9 years ago

Varietal Notes: Moscato Bianco, Fuilano, Cortese
Vineyard: Flora and Fauna loosely means the collection of plant and animal life of a certain epoch. This version is the collection of varietals from the cellar and also from Sam's ideas that make up the blend for the year. For 2014, The Bee compromises of roughly 60% Muscat Canelli (a.k.a Muscat Blanc, Moscato Bianco), 30% Friulano, and 10% Cortese. The Muscat Canelli comes from organically farmed, well drained volcanic soils on the southwest edge of Lake County. The Friulano and Cortese both come from Fox Hill Vineyard with soils that are well drained with high concentrations of gravel and sandstone.
Vinification: Winemaking starts in the vineyard, and Sam's preference is to find sites that require minimal to no work. In other words, the basics done right and well timed are all a great site needs. When that is the case, the winemaking becomes a simple game of guiding the fruit to be what it already is. For all three pieces of the blend, the grapes are picked at the first sign of ripeness. Sam time picking to when flavors just begin to emerge but the acidity and structure are still the predominant focus. From there, the grapes were whole cluster pressed, fermented via native yeasts, left on all the lees and solids, aged in neutral oak, and underwent native secondary fermentation. The blend was assembled in January leading up to bottling.
Production: 185 cases produced.
Notes: A dry, exotic, and aromatic white that doesn't stray to an over the top or sappy level is hard to find, and it was the rational behind the varietal choices and picking decisions. Macerated orange blossoms, wet river stones, spiced honey, ginger, gardenia, lemon peel, salty ocean air, and rangpur lime all balance in the aromas. The mouth shows great texture and weight without ever getting heavy. The finish is full of spicy acidity.

This Cabernet Sauvignon was one of the bottles of wine we bought from the Wall Street Journal wine club thru Platinum AMEX. Very good. We enjoyed this wine with The Belfers and Randy & Paula at our house on Saturday night, 10/17/2015. I would drink it again. — 11 years ago
L'Exclusive Prestige Cuvée from Ruinart. In magnum. Blanc de Blancs. Base wine is 1993, with blends from '88, '90, '86 and '85 - all Dom Ruinart. Not available for sale. Private collection for guests although our host at the House says they've only opened 3 bottles in last 5 years. Was sold originally in 2000. No longer for sale. Bottle designed by Cristofle, Paris. Not sure who designed the wooden case. Development on the nose of chestnut sauce, morel mushroom, earth and stone fruits - apricot and apricot compote. There's some wet rock notes. On the palate, acidity seems subdued (but evident on the finish) and integrated, and the wine is very delicate and elegant. There's some concentration but no richness or excess. There's some musk notes. Although its long, I would not say it's persistent as the mid-palate isn't huge on this wine. It's more a front end and finish attack - sour apricots to the fore. — 11 years ago
What's there not to like? Brilliant pale lemon yellow, almost clear. Whiffs of cool ocean breezes, with lemon and honey on the nose. Medium+ body with some earthy minerality and mouth watering acidity. Medium to long finish. I hear this wine can age. Maybe. Just not in our house. — 13 years ago

Toasted marshmallow, bananas foster, and a briny after note from the sea aging. A bit thin for the price, but still unique and quaffable, a great addition to any bottle collection. — 11 years ago
