Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

2019 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 3 hours. Medium-heavy body. Plenty of dark fruits in the nose. Brooding and taut with graphite and refined mineral influence topped with black plum coulis. 12.7.23. — 5 months ago

Mount Veeder Syrah 2000

Tasted blind and the herb note I detected had me dumbfounded. It never crossed my mind it being a syrah. Nice balance and still vibrant. — 10 months ago

Inky and rich with dark cherry and sweet plum. Intense throughout, concentrated with firm yet well integrated tannins. Finish is at least a minute long. Fantastic now and will hold at least a decade. — 4 years ago

A fantastic bottling that is rich, bright and delicate at the same time. Fully integrated with lovely smoky and mineral notes. Long elegant finish.
The winery note states full development by 2022. Agreed but should have staying power for another 4-5 years.

this is my one my favorites from Calera, great but I think would benefit by a couple more years of aging — 4 years ago

Mount Eden Vineyards

Wolff Vineyard Chardonnay 2020

Really solid california chardonnay that gives you all that you want in this varietal from that region. Light golden color. Has a toasty and slightly oxidized nose that gives way to tropical fruits. Mostly pineapple. Great structure, strong acidity but not biting. More tropical flavors inside with vanilla, some lemon butter, and a nice oak finish. — 2 months ago

Mount Eden Vineyards

Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir 2013

4th wine of BYOB blind. Very light with a slight effervescence, leading us to call this as a natty pinot. Was surprised it was such a classic. Have had Mt Eden Pinot before and this was not in the same neighborhood of depth/forest floor. Alas, not my favorite vintage — 4 months ago

1hr+ decant and could have used more. Dark red color. Interesting nose with metallic, medicinal tones that tingled my nose. Wine has massive strawberry and cassis; and is sweeter than I was expecting. Very concentrated. The tannins reduce with ample air and the spicy aspects dissipate with time as well making it more approachable. Medium finish. — 3 years ago
