Desperation dinner spot in La Morra — 8 years ago
Fresh, juicy, uncomplicated Barbera from 15-20 years old vines in Castiglione Falletto and La Morra. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak for 16 months. Bright ruby color. Red fruit and earthy notes. Medium-bodied, tart red fruit (sour cherry, strawberry) on the palate. Light tannin, racy acidity. — 4 years ago
Black raspberry, cherry, and tar meet spice box, leather and licorice on the nose. Floral characters are there too. Round oak notes of vanilla bean and cedar bark lead to a bright cherry fruit mid-palate which transitions into a sweet, but savory finish, highlighted with juicy cherry fruit. Chalky tannins on the backend drive a sense of minerality. Purchased at the enoteca in La Morra in 2016. Drink with decant or hold. — 6 years ago
Perfect partner for our Xmas lasagna. Perfectly balanced. — 6 years ago
Great wine!! — 8 years ago
Ive tried multiple vintages from this producer and I enjoy his style...from Capalot cru, 2012 is shaping up perfectly. From La Morra, Super floral, red tart cherries, black tea, slight leather, tannin and acid high. The mix of big ole barrel and 1/3 new french oak barriques just brings it to whole amazing level.. seek out this producer if you can... — 5 years ago
Honeysuckle, sweet and dry. Floral finish. — 7 years ago
CVed 1/23/18. Second. More funk and earth and minerals fall leaves on nose with dark fruits. Firm body and clear tannins on palate but already nicely integrating likely with wood and with long biting finish that shows first minerals and then fruit. Needs more time to come together but it's good. Yang to yin of first wine. From La Morra. Gordon's $24 good value and have other vintages. — 7 years ago
Still very young but that La Morra subtlety is in evidence already - soft tannins, initial nose of citrus peel giving way to classic Nebbiolo character. This will only get better — 8 years ago
