Cellers Can Blau

Mas de Can Blau Cariñena Blend 2013

Tour de Force, absolutely black, so inky & dense, so brooding with layers upon layers of liqueur like black/blue fruit, just gobs of rich extracted macerated fruit w/distinct vein of minerality, licorice, mocha, smoke, hedonistic, light dusting of sweet baking spices, couldn’t pull our noses out of the glass, and the palate just reinforced everything… just massive, wave after wave of richness, a bit of heat from the hi ABV is my only minor deduction. Showed power & grace, masculine, structured w/lengthy caressing finish. This could go 20+ yrs, it’s just a baby. — 8 days ago

Lleca Plana

Montsant Red Blend 2018

Although medium in body, this beauty had a rich and full mouthfeel. There was a round jamminess to it (European jam, not American) with generous dark fruit flavors and a warm spiciness as well. Nice and juicy! 70% Cariñena, 30% Garnacha. 11/18/22. — 8 days ago

Cellers Can Blau

Blau Montsant Red Blend 2018

In one fell swoop kick off the sandals, throw off the shirt, hop skip across sun-baked flat tile stones and dive with a swan’s assurance into the seaside swimming pool, warmed only by the elements, and just as mysterious, elusive and temperamental…….

An incredibly well made wine. Finesse, precision, and balance. Not my style, but I appreciate what it is. — a month ago

Zerran Montsant Garnacha Blend 2011

2011. Earthy dark fruits and a bite of tannins on the finish. Pretty good pairing with a crusty meatball caprese baguette! — 2 months ago

Espectacle del Montsant

Montsant Garnacha 2017

Pronounced “Es-peck-tuckle dell Mont-sunt.” Located in so-called armpit of Spain’s prestigious wine country principally because of its rustic quality. Deep Ruby with intense fruit aromas and sweet floral spice, aged 15 mos in French oak, from a warm dry vintage. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and raspberry with currants, sweet cacao, floral & pepper spice. Fine big tannins, well balanced with long finish finesse, ending with herb and spice, adding slight alcohol warmth. — 2 months ago
