Infanticide. Tasty, tasty infanticide. Even though the acidity here was huge, and this wine was tightly coiled, you can tell a sign of excellent things to come. The nose is dried herb, Asian pear, mango. Entry is acidic, salinity, herbal, limestone. Fruit showed in the middle after the tongue stopped burning. Pear, kiwi, guava. Finishes rather restricted. Good balance. Structure is there. This needs about 2 years in bottle but I recorked the second half to slow ox.... Day 2: ... now I think I'm gonna do the Mollydooker shake and slow ox to all of these younger Aubert. What a difference. Nose is much more tropical. Dense. Notes were pretty much the same, but very present. Acidity in check. Wonderful finish. Hint of oak in the finish. Glad I saved 2/3 of the wine for day 2! Now I see why they recommend double decanting! And I would add a 24 hour slow ox to that! — 6 years ago
Holy extraction grandma. Imagine a bottle of Caymus and a bottle of MollyDooker (any MD, really) met at a party and hit it off.. the Caymus, being outgoing and forgetting it's manners, while slightly inebriated, started dancing a bit too close to the Molly Dooker. She, being equally overt, slightly even more intoxicated, and not being one to say no to a good time, gladly indulged and pulled him closer as the music roared louder. They made their way through the crowd, bumping and grinding, and stumbled out the door to Caymus' sup'd up '69 Mustang Mach 1. Molly, being a thrill seeker with a new found love for Rutherford but a bigger love for adventure, shouted at Caymus as he gripped the wheel - "let's leave this state in our dust!" The two sped across the countryside, hand in hand, and finally ran out of gas as they crossed the state line into Washington. It was there they made love. A lovechild was born. It's name - Levitation. Levi for short.
For those confused - it drinks like a lovechild of Caymus and Molly Dooker coming from Washington. Not bad juice. — 7 years ago
Enjoying working through the back catalogue of Sarah and Sparky Marquis. This enterprise with their involvement broke up in 2005 when the Marquis's left to form Mollydooker. Dan Philips continued on for a couple of more years and but ultimately, this label failed in late part of the 2000s. And now, we learn this week that the fractures continue with the divorce of Sarah and Sparky. She has claimed control of Mollydooker while Sparky can't put out anything until 2018.
As soon as I had my first sip, this was classic Marquis. Amazingly, there was some heat here but this quickly dissipated. Long legs and maroon core. Black current and leathery from age. Tannins are beautifully integrated at this point. Amazingly, I think this still has some life in it as it was probably crafted for immediate consumption rather than 20 years of cellaring. — 8 years ago
The 2018 Mollydooker ‘The Velvet Glove’ Shiraz is a utterly sensational bottling that rivals any wine of its kind. Aged in all new American oak, this shows a gorgeous bouquet from blueberry pie to espresso grounds, graphite and toasty oak tones that all impress. The palate is deep and utterly seamless. A massive core of blue and dark fruits collide with white pepper, minerals, firm tannins and a light dusting of salinity. While obviously big, this has a weightless quality and wonderful verve. Wonderful to enjoy now, this outstanding Shiraz will provide drinking enjoyment for at least another fifteen years. But why wait? Drink 2021-2038- 98 — 4 years ago
High powered juice but silky smooth and highly aromatic. Cherries, blueberries and spice. Rich and dark in the glass, the high alcohol is nicely balanced and this reminds me of Velvet Glove from Mollydooker, but you get three for the price of one with this Paso Robles Syrah. — 6 years ago

A fantastic fruity, tannic red wine. Yum!! — 8 years ago
For a 2016 Spoto, this one did well. Of course, opening and Mollydooker shaking this one 7 hours beforehand likely did this one extremely well. Youthful black cherry, blackberry and dried herb. Middle and finish still has oak influence which is quite substantial. Really nice wine which will age nicely. — 6 years ago
It’s getting darker earlier and that means winter is coming and this is a winter wine if ever there was one. I knew this would be big but it’s bigger than that! Extremely dark in the glass with a slight cloudiness brought on by the age. There was plenty of sediment in the bottle so had to run through filter paper. Extremely powerful nose with dark fruits, tar, winter spices and menthol. Palate is very smooth and the alcohol which is high has integrated well which allows for a rich rather than hot finish. Loads of fruit on the taste with a blend of diesel, pepper and espresso. This wine was created by the Mollydooker gang in an earlier venture and it shows. Probably not for everybody but in its class this is really good and very enjoyable. Perfect time to drink this is when you need help getting over the hump after Thanksgiving or Christmas lunch before the ham and cheese come out in the evening. — 7 years ago
Wow. Lived up to the hype. Promoted by no less authorities than @Carl Fischer and @Isaac Pirolo. The hype is real.
Many have suggested that this is Napa meets Spain. For me it's Mollydooker takes a Spanish vacation.

First wine I've had from this producer I've been intensely curious about. Extremely gassy, even past Badoit territory, needed some serious Mollydooker shaking and decanting to get into drinkable territory and then a bit more time beyond that to get its composure. It's got pure red-fruited flavors and aromas in the same tone, but instead of fruity the scents are intensely floral, very rosy along with something else underneath like rhubarb or some other member of the root family. Unfortunately I think there is also a nick of volatile acidity. The texture is lean and refined, perhaps not to the extent of some of the Eyrie wines but not so far off. — 9 years ago
