Lots of air miles on this one... — 9 years ago
I don't know if this really feels like Miles to me, but don't let that dissuade you. A fun sparkling wine with interesting complexity from a unique area and grapes. Fiano and Aglianico (what?) bring a fruity notes likes peach and maybe even some sour cherry or strawberry? Or is that just my mind thinking about the Aglianico? Some unique herbal notes, perhaps oregano or rosemary, not 'green'. Finishes dry with a polite bit of chalky minerality. This is my kind of bubbles, though I know I'm a heretic when it comes to sparkling. — 11 years ago

Fridays are for Franc! And I. LOVE. THIS. WINE. I could not believe the aromatics that exploded from the bottle when I pulled the cork. Seriously it was like there was a blueberry pie baking in the kitchen. Decanted for an hour or so. Deep magenta in the glass. Loads of Cherry and blueberry on the palate mingle with vanilla, chocolate, herbs, and earth - very rich, but so incredibly balanced at the same time. I’ve been a longtime fan of Detert wines and this very well may be my favorite vintage of their Franc to date. I’m just wowed. Can’t wait to revisit this again and see how it evolves. Really well done @Tom Garrett (as always). — 8 years ago

Just wonderful. Full of flavor of fruits and minerals, w/out out oak or butter. Very drinkable, and makes you think after each mouthful "what new flavor is that"... — 11 years ago

My last 2011 bottle. The estate of Sette Ponti lies in the heart of the Chianti zone, 15 miles northwest of the city of Arezzo, past the village of San Giustino Valdarno. Crognolo, aged in French Allier barriques, deep red with red fruit aromas and sweet perfumed spice. On the palate raspberry and cherry flavors, gentle spice and soft tannins with great mouthfeel. Good balance, lingering finish ending with some oak and mineral tones. Aged well. — 8 years ago

Another example of how great the wines being made by Dakota Shy are. Todd Newman and Tom Garrett have a knack for making great wines. This Cabernet, even very young, sends a message to every other iconic Napa cabernet they have something to contend with. Lots of black fruit and blue fruit on the nose with incredible flavors of blackberries, plums, and currants. I love this wine. — 8 years ago
Great nose. Medium to full bodied. Many miles left in the tank. — 11 years ago

I recommend always calling before your arrival to ask if something cool is open.
(And if there is, then the 120 miles of travel at 6am on your day off is totally worth it) — 8 years ago
